Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich downplayed any prospect of someone other than either Donald Trump or Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) receiving the Republican nomination.

Cruz eliminated himself with his trade votes and his recent siding with the MoveOn.Org protesters.

Cruz is not expected to do well today.

He has no chance to win the Nom, outright, or via brokered convention.

He/s nothing more than a pest.....he/d be lucky if he retains his Senate seat.

Donald kept him way below the 50% he needed to sweep the Texas delegates. Cruz/s 44% was the poorest showing ever by a Texas Republican....Bush got 88%.

By staying in a race where he clearly isn’t wanted, Cruz shows his deviousness.

He reveals his only goal is to damage the Trump brand.

Cruz/s animosity toward Trump has reached the hatred stage.

Well, considering the Three Evil Amigos are going to pool their delegates, and make a smoke filled room deal, I’d beat it will be two of the three.

Newt is speaking strictly as a mathematical possibility. That possibility will be removed by this evening.

From that point on, Cruz remains in as an establishment spoiler.

“Cruz/s animosity toward Trump has reached the hatred stage.”

I think that is way overblown.

Cruz recently said the only way he would not support Trump, if Trump is the winner of the nomination, would be if Trump shot down a person on a public street.

That is not hatred; that is real politic.

I think a Trump/Cruz ticket is still possible.

Cruz it seems will have to rely heavily on the same “Washington Cartel” to pull him over the finish line. The same “Cartel” he has been railing against for six years. He is proving his whole political career has just been an orchestrated farce.

You don’t have to ‘downplay’ any other possibility. The media is being dishonest about the state of the race and Kasich and rubio’s chances of winning.

They have no chance of winning. It is mathematically impossible for either of them.

Its a good possibility Trump wins Illinois, Mo and Florida tonight, a tidal wave of delegates there. Ohio I am still not so sure about, I am counting that as a Trump loss, not by 6 points but maybe a squeaker. I think Cruz comes in 4th in Florida and Illinois, 2nd in Mo and 3rd in Ohio. If Trump sweeps tonight, one or two of the 4 drop out. I think Cruz and Kasich. Where then does Cruz and Kasich go? Cruz and some heads will explode here, endorses Trump and the juggernaut continues. Cruz is promised a plum job like SCOTUS or AG. Much uglier contests have resulted in strong alliances. Bush and Reagan was pretty damn ugly in 1980...voodoo economics etc. Hell trump called Carson a mental defective and that still worked out.

Way, way overblown. Some people say things and you have a hard time taking them seriously after that.

Gingrich does the analysis nobody in the GOPe wants to admit.

Scenario: nobody wins the required numbered of delegates in the primaries, resulting in a brokered convention.

Given no candidate has won a majority of delegates.
And Trump & Cruz have won at least 80% of the delegates.
When the brokering begins after the first ballot.
Then Trump & Cruz will strike a deal ensuring a Trump/Cruz or Cruz/Trump ticket.

With Trump & Cruz in control of 80% (or more) of the delegates at the convention, they can—without doubt—cobble together enough votes to secure the nomination for a ticket.

The question is: will they work together to get this done? The answer is yes. This is Trump’s only shot—the GOPe will be prepared for him next cycle. Cruz knows (1) he’ll never get this close to the presidency again and (2) VP is the stepping stone to getting a future nomination.

The only question is who will be the presidential candidate and who will be the VP candidate. But, if Trump & Cruz can bury their differences, the is no scenario (according to Gingrich) where the GOPe can prevent them from being the ticket.

I don’t know what media you watch, but all of the big outlets I’ve seen say exactly that, no chance of those 2 winning outright, that their goal is to ensure that Trump does not reach 1237.

Cruz as a establishment spoiler?......you could be right. I just wonder what the GOPeers promised him to stay in. There’s a bunch of heavy hitters there who could reward Cruz handsomely if he manages to damage Trump.

But the $64 thousand dollar question is: “what is Trump planning? “

Wonder if Trump has a can of DDT handy?

ROTFLOL.

Plus, a Trump/Cruz ticket is a dream team for the Republican base.

It is the sort of ticket that should have been put together in 2008.

But the establishment team of Democrat party, media cartel (but I repeat myself) and RINOs gave us McCain instead.

A Trump/Cruz ticket will beat Hillary in a landslide. It insures a unified Republican base that everyone can be enthusiastic about, and it unifies the complimentary talents of two extraordinarily talented candidates.

The media that never says there isn’t a snow ball’s chance in hell of those two winning anything even if they do win their own states.
