North Korea claims it could 'burn down' Manhattan with a H-bomb

Another day, another veiled threat from North Korea. Unlike most, this one was very specific.

State-run television in the People’s Republic reported on Sunday that Pyongyang’s arsenal of deadly weapons now includes a hydrogen bomb that could wipe out New York City and kill everybody who lives there.

“Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union,” DPRK Today reported, citing nuclear scientist Cho Hyong Il.

Maybe China will help us keep the DPRK at bay.

I’m not sure how they would reason with a country that uses anti-aircraft artillery followed by a flame thrower to execute people sentenced to death.

Sure. Because it is so easy to make the leap from a single stage low double-digit kilo ton yeild science experiment in a cave to a lightweight, multi-stage multi-megaton device capable of surviving a sub-orbital trip on an ICBM. Oh, and there’s that little problem of a couple dozen interceptors between you and NYC. Go ahead, try it. Seriously, take a shot at me, I dare you, you little POS. Try it or sit down and STFU, you’re an embarassment.

I don’t usually taunt crazy people. But if you are going to take out Manhattan....

Bring it on Kim.

Bigger than the 50 megaton monster the Soviets set off in '61 (the Tsar Bomba)? Yeah, that would do some damage. As would the spray of warheads from one Minuteman or Trident aimed at Fat Boy's cave.

Dear FSB and Chinese Intelligence, it's time you curbed your dog.

Much bigger than the Tsar Bomba? That's quite impressive.

I bet China would actually work to stop North Korea if the US started talking about putting missiles in South Korea like we did in Europe in the 1980’s.

Either we have a nuclear-free Korean peninsula or not.

But if you are going to take out Manhattan....

What do you call a 50 megaton hydrogen bomb dropped on Manhattan?

A good start.

He ain’t gonna deliver his nukes by missile. He will deliver it by shipping container. Hence Manhattan, not DC.

It doesn't need to fly from North Korea. It simply needs to function. They can get a container ship close enough that interceptors won't matter.

6, 8, 11, and 14 for starters, and you might also take out the ones telling NK how to do it.

It *is* news...this threat *was* spoken.I doubt that its appearance here will increase the likelihood of it actually happening.OTOH,demonstrating just how breathtakingly dangerous this fat psychopath is just might be worthwhile.
