I should add that I’ve had the occasion to meet and converse at length with a rather large number of members of the House and Senate - from both parties. With very, very few exceptions, you would be amazed at the incredible lack of intellect and command of facts, not to mention the fact that very, very few of them have any core principles other than to get re-elected.

Nancy Pelosi is easily one of the stupidest human beings I have ever met. On the other side of the aisle, former Governor (of MO), Senator and Attorney General John Ashcroft is easily one of the most inarticulate and most miserable people I’ve ever met.

Like aristocracy throughout the ages, they fail when they're more involved with themselves and keeping their power instead of doing their duty.

Eric Can’tor/won’t was the first to fall because he couldn’t/wouldn’t side with the citizens and the rule of law against the illegal aliens and their employers.

Most of our political leaders sold their souls to The Cheap Labor Express and have worked against the citizens desire to stop the illegal alien inundation.

This town is filled with well-intentioned people who believe they are doing the right thing

Almost none of us out here beyond the Beltway believe that. THAT'S why they're in trouble.

I can agree with that.

This attitude has been brewing for a long time and it crosses both parties. Sanders and Trump are the outsiders that have turned the whole political class on their ear.

I wouldn’t be so quick to say they are losing control. Maybe they are gaining control.

I take solace in the clear recognition by many who were in denial that (1) there really is a political class that more or less transcends partisan politics; (2) that they knew it before the rest of the country did, and (3) that they hold in withering contempt the people who are enriching them. It's something.

How easy such an entrenched class is to disempower is highly debatable. I doubt that it can be done within a single political cycle, at least not without violence. A little humility might be the best we can hope for; for civil masters fully to realize that they really are civil servants in this country may be too much.

Sanders and Trump are the outsiders that have turned the whole political class on their ear.

This is what has made this particular election cycle more interesting than most. There are *outsiders* knocking on the door of BOTH parties (with a battering ram, no less). The more common scenario is that this could/would happen only to one faction at any given time, and thus could be 'controlled'. Happening in both simultaneously is certainly a first in the modern era, and may well be a first in the history of this country.

We are in unknown waters, at this point, and the 'navigators' apparently are unable to use a sextant, or compass...

Wow... very good summation.

They simply forgot that they govern at the consent of the governed.

Video of GOP elites whining about Trump over martinis is the most pathetic thing you’ll see all day

Contemptuous

We all know the GOP elites are horrified at the rise of Trump. They want you to believe their revulsion stems from outrage over issues but, if you dig a little, eventually you realize that’s only the surface of the story. They don’t like Trump because they don’t understand his success, can’t control him, and don’t know what he’ll do if he manages to win.

He’s a wild card and, as I’ve said before, there’s nothing your “political betters” hate more than unpredictability. When things go off the pre-determined rails, these people have to actually pick sides, make decisions, and stand on principle. That’s all such a bother.

Go to the link below to see/hear the whining:

From the column:

<>Unless the political establishment is willing to learn from the anger felt by millions of Americans who feel left behind, this will not end in November.<>

He's right. Since what ails our nation cannot be cured by the people acting in their electoral capacity, the groundswell of outrage will continue past November.

Our only possible redemption resides in the people acting in their sovereign capacity via their delegates in an Article V convention.

Puts me in mind of the story I heard about Harry S Truman. On his first day in the US Senate, he thought, "How did I get to be here?"

After he had been there a couple of months, his question had changed to, "How did THEY get to be here?"

In both case, these are essentially third party runs within institutionalized parties.

Sanders is the more blatant opportunist identifying himself as an independent but injecting himself into the dimocratic primary system. It still mystifies me how tyhe DNC allows him to do this.

Trump is just gaining grass roots support within the party rank and file. It still fries the GOPe that their annointed one, bush, never got any traction against any candidate and they are focusing their wrath on the most popular candidate left.

The ruling class in DC can either go with the vote and cede control or they can hang.

Literally.

Nothing changes until the people in the upper levels of the party are removed. Having people like Perdue write articles about this is meaningless because, in the end, nothing is being done about it. This is just someone on the inside saying "I hear ya", mostly just to stay in the good graces of the voters. But nothing will change until the GOP receives a good cleansing of the elitist RINO types that are currently running the party into the ground.
