A customer shot and killed a hatchet-wielding man attacking a clerk at a convenience store Sunday morning in Burien WA
About 5:45 a.m., a masked man about 40 years old walked into a 7-Eleven store near South 110th Street and 8th Avenue South and swung a hatchet at a customer, said King County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cindi West. The man then went behind the counter and attacked the clerk.
Within seconds, a customer pulled out a handgun and shot and killed the attacker, likely saving the clerk’s life, West said.
The customer, in his 60s, buys coffee from the store almost every morning, West said. He has a permit to carry a concealed handgun, West said.
An investigation is continuing.

They will sell a hatchet to just anybody at the hardware store! No background checks or nothing. If they sold nerf hatchets instead, this could have all been avoided without bloodshed.

Later in the article it is called a hatchet. I remember seeing a Muslim attacker who killed a soldier in England using a meat cleaver. Machetes are generally a South American implement.
