They left out the first sentence where he blames the rioters first.

Yup. Just like blaming the rapist first before accusing the victim of creating an environment of opportunity by wearing too short of a skirt.......

“They left out the first sentence where he blames the rioters first.”

That’s the point. His first sentence blamed the protesters, and then everything he said afterwards contradicted that very statement. How can you square his comment that the protesters were responsible with the rest of his statement? You can’t, and that’s the point. Who talks like that? Answer: Politicians. That was the most cynical display of trying to straddle both sides of an issue for political advantage I’ve seen in years. Cruz is the consummate politician. He showed he was willing to legitimize the tactics and the goals of the left as long as he was able to benefit personally from doing so.

He’s also smart enough to provide himself with cover by including the obligatory “The protesters are responsible for their actions” statement. Reminds me of his support for TPA and the convoluted explanations he used to try to justify his vote. Pure lawyer talk designed to provide deniability and obfuscate the real motive behind the statement. Cruz is not what he seems.
