IIRC the Reagan administration wanted to close the bath houses to stop the spread of HIV/Aids. But the gays went all anti-homophobic and protested that they were being singled out, so the closings never happened. They were free to die as this chose...

Just think how many of their lives would have been spared.

They apparently think so. That’s why they’re such good Democrats. They never take personal responsibility for their lives and insist that it’s the government’s and everyone else’s job to fix all their problems.
