Rules requiring employers to verify eligibility to work were passed back in the late 80’s - I-9 form must be completed for every new employee & copies of documents kept on file.

E-verify came later & is not federally mandated, although some states may have passed such laws. It should be. But the requirement to verify is already federal law.

Add to that, if anybody who completes an I-9 is found to have falsified it, they will charged with Federal crimes.

I know a few years back, a construction company had an HR Manager do this and she did, in fact, go to jail and fined thousands of dollars.

E-verify was insider manipulated BS. For most, it was never a legal requirement.

Business needs to be held civilly and criminally responsible for knowingly hiring illegals. For the most part that never happened. We all know why. This is not a complex problem and this will change.

Every citizen fills out an I9 and has to show proof of citizenship.

I do it here in California to protect myself, I’m not even sure if it is mandatory but I think it is. What I do know is that it is a complete waste of time. You don’t hear back from the Feds for a year if they respond at all.

Many just skip that hassle, stop hiring and or outsource work to Asia or the sub-continent as needed or where applicable.

Yes, par for the course today. Exactly what I expect from Trump and the new and improved GOP. Fine, force, tax, prosecute and punish the producer class.

Yep, there are lots of folks on the profits regardless of consequences band wagon, who’s allegiance it tied to their accounts, not America. Get ready for some needed changes.

And your “Producer class” comments ring hallow as the real Middle American producer class got economically gang banged for decades. You must have missed that part.

You sound like you're entitled? Do you think you're owed something?

Yes, I feel Americans are owed a legitimate government, who answers to the people, not corrupt special interest, PACs, influence peddlers or their corporations who prepaid for those in D.C.

I think these professional law clerks turned career politicians should wear suits like NASCAR drivers, so we know who their corporate sponsors are. How about you Mr. Poison?

You don’t have to e-verify if you hire illegal aliens. You only have to do it when you hire people who can legally work in the US and if you don’t you’ll be fined.

[Sarcasm?]

I don’t run e-verify.

Then again, I hire I.T. techs at $50 an hour and NO ONE EVEN APPLIES.

I’ve been looking for NE Sales reps for 4 years. No one applies for that either. And it’s 20% commission.

It is illegal to use E-Verify in California

California employers, take note: On October 9, 2015, California Governor Jerry Brown signed into law AB 622, a bill that prohibits California employers from using the federal E-Verify system for current employees and applicants.

The people? Just where the hell do you think those special interests come from? Over 50% of the people now pay no income tax. None. Zero. Nothing. Most of the middle class you say are the producers pay nothing in income tax. That burden falls on those who earn enough to pay wages for others, thank you very much. Now you want to punish them if they don't want to pay more?

I feel Americans are owed a legitimate government

Legitimacy is never derived by force. Though I don't think that will stop the likes of you from trying.
