Christianity Today's chief editor Mark Galli has issued embarrassed apologies for a classified ad appearing in his publication's March edition that was placed by a parent soliciting a son-in-law for a "godly, gorgeous, athletic, educated, careered, humorous, traveled, bilingual" virgin daughter. Ostensibly, the winning candidate, "unworthy but becoming less so daily," would fill an elder position at a Chicago-area church. Galli, speaking for the staff of the genteel Wheaton, Ill.-based evangelical magazine, acknowledged that the Marketplace section ad was "demeaning and in poor taste."

I think it might be called "Islam".
The main reason for that is because divorce wasn’t socially acceptable in the past. It had little to nothing to do with whether marriages were arranged or not.
Indeed. But I still do not think having a third party select one's life partner cures that problem.

They only thing I see creepy here is other people fixating on their business to judge it creepy.
Chalk it up to personal experience. I can’t think of a single man I know that could pull this off. Or would want to. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.
At some point you have to let the little “princess” go and trust you raised her to make good choices. Just my $.02

Yep. It seems the norm nowadays.
I have a young daughter and another on the way. My overarching policy is to make all decisions until she is able to make her own decisions and come to the same conclusion as me- the correct one. I'm not raising a free spirit named Sunflower. I want her to possess my values.
