Donald Trump attacks ‘Corrupt Marco Rubio’ in new ad
The Washington Post ^ | March 7th, 2016 | By Jenna Johnson

Donald Trump will soon air a television ad in Florida that repeatedly labels the state's Sen. Marco Rubio (R) as "corrupt" and accuses the senator of "defrauding the people of Florida." In a news release announcing the ad, Trump's campaign labeled the minute-long spot as its "latest campaign ad attacking Florida’s no-show Senator Marco Rubio."

Rubio is struggling to keep his presidential campaign alive and has only won two nominating contests: Minnesota and Puerto Rico. On Saturday night, Trump called on Rubio to drop out of the race so that he can focus on his chief rival, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.).

Yet Rubio still poses a threat to Trump: The senator has been aggressively attacking the Republican front-runner, as have groups that are supporting his candidacy. And Trump has said that he's determined to win Florida's GOP primary March 15, which he believes could decide the race.

Does anyone know what a full minute long ad costs in the 4-5 media markets of Florida? Maybe $100k each run, each channel?

That said, both Rubio and Trump do not appear to have a money problem.

It was inevitable that Trump would have to add the air game in earnest. Otherwise he'd be steamrolled like Newt was in 2012.

At least he's decent enough to own the ad instead of hiding behind a SuperPAC.

"too bad it always is like this"

Campaigns are always and inevitably negative. In this case it's apparent Trump had to put something up to survive, there's at least $30mil in time bought against him. There may be more next week.

And airtime is probably Cruz's weakest link. If all reporting is true, he came out of super Tuesday with no more than $20mil.

Again, if reporting is to be believed money to his Super PACs has dried up.

Trump needs to start taking donations, limiting the amount to say $100 per person, to keep his integrity. The GOPe PACs are POUNDING him in FL, OH, MI and PA.

"The GOPe PACs are POUNDING him in FL, OH, MI and PA."

Say what you will about Twitter and free airtime, but negative TV ads work, work well, and always have.

And, if you don't have money to respond you die as a result.

Trump has to balance the onslaught some for sure.

I would like to see him run some positive for Trump ads too. The more the merrier.

I think his campaign ought to have individual donate buttons to fill ad slots. Kind of like “vote for this ad” by donating to run it. I don’t know if that is legal, who knows, but I would pick the ones I like the most and donate.

You are welcome. He has taken donations for quite some time at his website although he never asks for them. I think because shortly after he announced people just started sending him checks to Trump Towers.

No show Rubio. I think that’s a good attack.

But Trump needs to air more than attack ads. He needs to keep a positive message about himself and what he can do for America front and center.

Trump needs to grow his youtube base by the millions. Although he has more youtube subscribers over other candidates and he posts a video every now and then, he needs to promote his youtube channel and post early and often. He needs as many LIKES as possible.

Trump needs to start a snapchat account IMMEDIATLEY. Someone close to him can tell him how it works. Posting different clips of daily ‘story’ will create A LOT of good buzz.

It would be a game changer in social media for this election cycle. No one else needs to steal the idea. This idea is for Trump only LOL

Trump would make headlines over night just by setting up a SNAPCHAT account and posting several times throughout the day. Does his campaign read Freerepublic? If not, someone needs to get this message to him loud and clear.

Right Clear Politics sometimes has 20K+ LIVE viewers during his debates. Trump needs to tap into his youtube audience. He has a lot of supporters on youtube.

Correction, Right Clear Broadcasting on Youtube will sometimes have 20K live biers and the biggest chat room on the internet.

Why haven’t his children or someone in the campaign who is up on social media told him that he has the fastest live chat on Youtube at Right Side Broadcasting during his live events and sometimes the debates?

Snapchat is a GAME CHANGER for this election. Sure Twitter, Facebook and Intagram in that order have impact, but Snap Chat is the next generation.

If he is not going to be doing conventional ads, then he needs to hire a Social Media guru STAT. Snapchat is a game changer. It would make him even more current and ahead of the curve as it relates to different social media touch points.

He can do all of them so easily, not sure why he isn’t.
