Newt Gingrich on Sunday warned that a contested convention to try to prevent Donald Trump from securing the GOP nomination would have a disastrous effect on the Republican party.
"If Trump comes in [to the convention] with 45 percent or more of the delegates, he's gonna be the nominee," the former House Speaker said in a radio interview with John Catsimatidis. "You would have a civil war if people stepped in, if the old guard stepped in, and tried to steal the nomination..."

They are trying to prevent us from electing a President who will stop the illegal alien inundation.

The article at The Hill has more deleted comments than I’ve ever seen there.
They will lose the election to Hillary as Trump runs third party and they will lose all down party seats because those voting for trump will rub it in the eye of the establishment... the Repub party will go the way of the Whigs and out of the ashes our new party will at least start with a backbone...

Why would it bring civil war? If ANY candidate fails to get 50.1% of the delegates on the first ballot, what should happen? Now if someone has 50.1% going into the convention, the nomination should be his/hers.

Maybe America’s salvation has to start with the GOP.
I personally think that if Trump is the nominee either as the Republican candidate or if he chooses to go Independent, he will hand the Presidency over to whoever is the Democrat candidate. He can win the nomination for Republican Candidate but I don’t see enough voting for him in the General Election.
He has too many that cannot handle his person and don’t trust him at all....Combine all of the votes for the candidates other than him.. Cruz, Rubio, Kasich , and many of their voters would not vote for Trump
I’m not saying they shouldn’t vote Trump, if he is the candidate....(That decision for me is still out with the Jury) but I’m saying that most won’t.

Mr. Gingrich resigned as Speaker of the House in disgrace. He dumped his first wife, while she was in the hospital with breast cancer; and then he cheated on his second wife with a Congressional staffer, while scolding Mr. Clinton for his acts with Ms. Lewinski. Mr. Gingrich typifies Republican pseudo-Christian family values.
Sounds like TRump and Newt are two of a kind.
