AP News Guide: No Shakeup In 2016 Race Despite Underdog Wins

Underdogs found something to cheer in the latest run of presidential nomination contests. Whether they are any closer to stalling the drive of Democrat Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is quite another matter.

Republicans and Democrats in Kansas, Republicans in Maine and Democrats in Nebraska snubbed the front-runners Saturday on a heartening night for Ted Cruz in the GOP contest and Bernie Sanders in the Democratic race.

But their hopes were restrained by victories for Trump in Louisiana and Kentucky, and for Clinton in Louisiana - and by the proportional allocation of delegates that makes it difficult for anyone lagging in the race to make up much ground.

Its no small irony the system Mittens’ people put in place to shorten the nomination battle has ended up perversely benefiting Trump.

No one else can come near his delegate lead. This is by design.

Bernie and Teddy do well in caucuses. Easy to manipulate at the caucus sites. Cruz can’t even win a real election in the South. Time for Teddy to hang it up.

My primary is April 26 (PA) and this is one election cycle where the contest is still going on so late in the primary season. Usually we just rubber stamp the establishment pick.

I noticed that. As far as closed primary elections go, I think Trump is 2 out of 3.
