Cruz is in second place, and won three states that he was polling behind Trump just days before the voting (IA, OK, AK). He isn't in first, but he is in contention. In a 2-man race, I say he would be ahead (and have been saying so for months).

Cruz had the worst voting percentage of any Republican candidate in their own home state primary in over 100 years. The people who know him best don’t like him...and most Americans don’t like him. Rubio is the liberal candidate of the contest...If his supporters go to Cruz instead of Trump you'll know Cruz is the more liberal of the two...
