An opposition party doesn’t mean the lighter version of it. It means in opposition, which Republican leaders don’t seem to get.
And it is because Trump is standing up to the social justice warriors, race baiters, free trade no matter what it does to the US, those who prefer immigrants and illegals to citizens - that is why he is so popular.

Sanders and Hillary both lost platforms to black lives matter, Trump’s people have shouted them down and thrown them out repeatedly. Standing up for the basic freedom of speech and belief is critical, and the others pussy foot around it except Cruz.
