Don’t forget Bertha Broadfoot, the mother of Charlemagne or his wife, I forget which.

I really enjoyed the first season.
The last one was rather average. Don’t like romance plots, unless they are organic to the story and really well done.
Need to go shopping, but relating to the OP.
It is a bit interesting that the show seems to go out of its way NOT to place the main characters.
They just hail from “Scandinavia”
Good move, a different approach mightr have fueled a civil war. :)

But frankly (!), I think that series is overdone and politically correct. Someone really should just cut Loki's throat and throw his corpse in a fjord. The BBC series based on Bernard Cornwell's Saxon series is much better.

In many sagas Ragnar Lothbrok is the ancestor kings of all the Scandinavian royal houses. In fact, Ragnar Lothbrok is a sort of an amalgam of a few known historical figures and it is possible that King Horik was the man that legend says was Ragnar.

Excellent series...The Last Kingdom. Enjoying it immensely. Have you read the books? They're outstanding. I love Cornwell. I've read everything he's written and love it all. Sharpe, Arthur, Uhtred, Hook, Hookton... his characters are magnificent.

I remember the Ragnar in the 1958 Viking movie . Though a prisoner he was able to die fighting, with a sword in his hand, when he leaped into the dog pit, Valhalla bound.

And all this time, I thought Rollo was from Watts:

My mistake. Although I suspect the character’s name was chosen for its similarity to the Norse god’s.

In general, the Danish Vikings went to Britain and Normandy, the Norwegians went to Northern Britain, Iceland, Greenland and North America, the Swedes went to Russia and possibly all the way to the Arab world.

It’s a joke now, but if things in Europe continue down the path they’re on, Cologne Cathedral will be dynamited before the end of the century.

Yeah.
Though my favourite Viking. Harald Hardraada made his fortune serving in the Varangian guards in Constaninople killing plenty of muslims before becoming King of Norway and attacking England at the same time as William the Conquerer.
Different weather those days, and we might have been looking at a global viking empire :)
