I’ve heard plenty of definitions for swag.
- If you like to go to conferences and whatnot, it’s the free stuff they hand out, ‘stuff we all get’.
- From the military, when you swag it, it’ll be a ‘soldier’s wild-ass guess’.
- If you’re involved in AV or big productions, swag is the play in a cable when you hang it in the ceiling, you swag it from point to point.
- Shortened form of swagger, which is how you walk when you think you’re cool because you’re drunk. Or if you’re a pirate. Pirates swagger about.
- If you’re a douchebag-type ghetto thug/fratboy, swag is a relatively recent term that refers to your bling/haughtiness.
Other than that, I can’t think of much off the top of my head.
I’m aware of the Simple Wild-Ass Guess and “booty” (as in loot, not derriere). I’ve never seen it referred to as a “culture” before, and usually don’t see it capitalized.
