Ryan plans to speak with Trump about GOP agenda

Paul Ryan's team has been in contact with Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign to discuss the party’s agenda going into the November elections, the House Speaker's office says.

Ryan (R-Wis.) is expected to communicate with the rest of the presidential field as well, as the GOP prepares to unveil an official policy platform this spring.

“We have heard from the campaign, but the two have not yet spoken. We expect the speaker to be in touch with all the remaining candidates soon to discuss our efforts to build a bold conservative policy agenda for 2017,” Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck said.

Trump’s campaign declined to confirm the communications. Spokeswoman Hope Hicks said that “we don't comment on private conversations.”

I think Trump should try to placate the GOPe. They will do anything from sabotage him in the Convention, to actual assassination.

Then, when he’s President, he can tell them to suck eggs.

Shouldn’t the president be setting the agenda? Or at least the presidential candidate?

GOP establishment appears to be tentatively reaching out to Trump.

As much they hate them, they realize they may need to work with him.

I see as them keeping their options open if Trump isn’t defeated.

I’m not sure about this.

At some point, Trump needs a congress he can work with. This might be a good step.

...to discuss the party’s agenda....

That is, open borders for third-worlders, shipping more jobs overseas, floods of H1Bers, more mountains of debt to be piled upon the unborn and recently born, and kabuki theater for the chumps at home.

Trump will humor the little K Street weasel Paul Ryan and pretend to accept his input.

We expect the speaker to be in touch with all the remaining candidates soon to discuss our efforts to build a bold conservative policy agenda for 2017

And therein lies one of the problems - why are there efforts to build a bold conservative policy agenda? We could get a dozen people from FR in a room and hammer out a coherent bold conservative policy agenda in 8 hours that the majority of us could buy into.

This guy / party creates a huge team to create, poll test, edit, discuss with K Street and the other cronies, edit again after their input and then release some bland document that gets 4 hours of air time and then thrown into the bottom drawer of his desk. Shortly after, they all go back to their business as usual cocktail parties.

Ryan/GOPe would not be doing this if they felt they could defeat Trump. Now this is why Trump’s business experience counts. Trump will be meeting from a position of strength, Ryan is extremely weak. Let’s see what kind of deal Trump can make, when he can already probably win without a deal.

a bold conservative policy agenda for 2017

**********************************************

The bold conservative policy agenda has been enumerated by the front runner.

1. Secure the border with real barriers, not vitual ones.

2. Deport illegal aliens, restore the rule of law

3. Rebuild the military

4. Repeal Obamacare

5. Tax plan (read it)

6. Cut spending

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I expect a lot less from Ryno
Fine to talk to him, but it needs to be clear to Ryan that if Trump is POTUS, he will set the agenda, not Paul Ryan.
