Trump, Clinton look set for big Super Tuesday wins

br />WASHINGTON/AUGUSTA, Ga. — Donald Trump looked poised to strengthen his lead in the Republican presidential race when 11 states vote on Tuesday, an outcome likely to intensify concerns among party leaders who consider him a usurper of the Republican throne.

In the Democratic race, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would go a long way toward cementing her path to the nomination if she scores big victories of her own over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Opinion polls showed Trump leading in nearly all the states that will hold primary contests or caucuses, most of them in the South. The exception appeared to be Texas, where Sen. Ted Cruz, who represents that state, enjoyed a narrow lead and was in desperate need of a victory.

Super Tuesday is the biggest single day of state-by-state contests that select party nominees for the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama.

Voting stretches from eastern states to Texas and Minnesota, with the first polls closing at 7 p.m. EST in Vermont and Virginia and first results expected soon after.

In Virginia, Gwendolyn Beck was putting up Trump signs across Arlington, one of the state's most liberal areas, when she was confronted by a Sanders supporter carrying a 2-year-old.

"I came here to tell you you're a terrible person," Mark Blacknell, 40, told Beck before walking into a nearby polling place. He said later he was appalled to see Trump signs being put up in the Washington suburb.

The encounter reflected the acrimonious nature of the 2016 campaign and the divisions it has laid bare among Republicans, adding to the traditional split between the two major American political parties.

Rubio saw his support increase among Republican voters after a strong debate performance last week, rising to 20 percent from 14 percent, a Reuters-Ipsos poll found. Trump still dominated the field with 42 percent support.

His support is INCREASING

Bill Clinton used Fleetwood Mac’s “Don’t Stop Believing About Tomorrow” as the theme song for his ‘92 election. Hillary plans on keeping with the Fleetwood Mac theme by using “Tell Me Lies” as her theme song.

I read that kind of thing from a person who supports a socialist and I wonder how many even know what a socialist is.

“..And Hillary can hibernate until the big Philly in July.”

There is so much about her that need to be HIDDEN. Alcohol, health, driving, walking...the living lie continues.

Regardless, I would never call a Sanders supporter a “terrible person”, but you’re right they may in fact have no idea what a socialist is, so I might ask them (in a civil tone) how they define it.

..concerns among party leaders who consider him a usurper of the Republican throne.

This says it exactly. The people in charge of the party consider themselves kings, and the people are to do them homage. Well, the people have decided not to go along with the program any more. The throne will be toppled and the GOPe kings will fall! America will be restored.

We need to just start calling socialists communists. Americans’ understanding of that word is closer to socialism than their knowing nothing about socialism or having a faulty impression of it.

I wouldn’t call a Sanders supporter a bad person, but I would ask if they thought welfare recipients should have to work for that welfare.

That is exactly why this great attack has been launched the last 2 days. The self-styled elite see their perks being threatened. No more cushy offices and access and paychecks for being he go-to fake conservative who quiets the little people.

A bunch of leeches.

Kasich has the most to offer with the least negatives unless Cruz can get this Canadian thing cleared up in Congress the way McCain did.

Mark is on the way to his wifey finding a real man. AKA taking long lunches with a “friend”. To a man, my liberal friends who were married had their wives cheat on them, the whole manly sexual polarity thing, American style liberalism in men is estrogen rich and a turn off to women. I am sure women Freepers could confirm this.
