New York City's enforcement of its first-in-the-nation rule mandating salt warnings on some restaurant menus has been put on hold the day before it was supposed to go into effect.
An appellate judge issued a temporary stay on Monday. The National Restaurant Association had asked for the stay last week, after another judge ruled the city could fine restaurants that don't comply with the labeling rule up to $600, starting on March 1.
The rule, enacted in December, calls for chain restaurants and fast-food places with more than 15 outlets nationwide to put triangle icons with salt-shaker images on menus next to items that go above the recommended daily limit of sodium. That's 2,300 milligrams, about a teaspoon. High salt intake can raise health risks including high blood pressure and heart disease. ...

Stupid. Salt is very important in the diet. Without salt your body can’t make stomach acid and without stomach acid you can’t properly digest proteins and you open you body to infection.
Why doesn’t NY City, its commie Mayor DeBlasio, its pinko City Council and the relevant health commission make that a “PINK TRIANGLE” on the salt shaker? It would just be a continuation of the Nazi’s “PINK TRIANGLE” they put on homosexuals before they killed them. Absolute control over the peoples’ lives.
The difference between a communist symbol and a Nazi symbol is just the way the hammer and sickle, and swastika, are bent. In the end, they are literally the same. Just a twist here, a turn there.

A friend of mine was subjected by his wife to what must have been a very bland diet. He ended up in the hospital due to his salt deficiency. I think his wife has a more sensible approach now.
