Wow...I don’t know why, but I thought he’d died a while back. RIP George.
“He was good in The Eiger Sanction (1975) with Eastwood ...”
One of my all-time favs.
BOWMAN: Want a beer?
HEMLOCK: You gonna call room service?
BOWMAN: We got beer.
HEMLOCK: If you hauled beer up this rock, you’re insane.
BOWMAN: I may be insane, but I’m not stupid. I didn’t carry it, you did. It’s in your pack.(Pulls a six-pack out of Hemlock’s backpack.)
HEMLOCK: Jesus Christ, I ought to throw you off this pillar. Besides, it’s warm.
BOWMAN: I’m sorry, I thought you’d draw the line at hauling ice.
LUCILLE!
Yes,
That John Wayne movie with him was great also.
Can’t think of the name.
“Red Leary” in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot also.
That was a great scene. That girl drove those guys crazy.
Sat next to him in a restaurant one time, dude was huge!!
RIP George, ya done good!
I have a lot of good memories related to George and his movie rolls.
It’s sad to see some of these folks shoving off from this existence.
Great movie.
Luke Askew as the boss Paul.
Cahill US Marshall.
One of the most erotic film sequences ever!
Good Guy
OMG how sad another Hollywood Legend has left us. I remember him in Earthquake and the Airplane movies.
RIP MR. KENNEDY - Thank you very much for your service to our nation.
“He enlisted in the Army during World War II and went on to serve 16 years, both in combat, and in his later years, as an Armed Forces Radio and Television officer.”
“As a US Army officer in WWII, he served under Gen. George S. Patton, and later went on to portray Patton in Brass Target (1978).”
“Before his acting career really took off, he served as a military consultant on The Phil Silvers Show (1955).”
George Kennedy served in my Dad’s infantry unit in WWII in the rank of sergeant. Went through the Battle of the Bulge together.
I have a letter George wrote around 1985 recalling their combat time & how Dad as C.O. put his soldiers’ lives ahead of everything else.
Didn’t know he served sixteen years. I always admired George Kennedy & he will be missed.
News like this makes me feel my age creeping on. The old joke about checking the obits before breakfast are not so amusing anymore.
George Kennedy was one of those good actors who straddled the line between ‘Character Actor’ and top ‘B’ Actor. Not quite good enough on his own to sell a movie on the marquee but counted upon to be a great support for whatever role he was cast in.
R.I.P. - you will be remembered in many a rerun!
RIP, George.
