They could be the nicest, most deserving kids on the face of the earth. I don’t care. My tax dollars should not support them. If I want to support them, I’ll donate to some cause that takes care of them — back in their home countries.

Not at all. We’re already broke raising our own underclass and their children.
This Mexican tactic may work in the bird world, where cuckoos lay their eggs in other birds’ nest and the `foster parents’ raise them, quite often to the detriment of their own chicks. but no longer here.
