I think it was someone wanting him to drop out and support Rubio. Make him a Senator? Rubio’s seat is up for grabs - so, this came from a special interest group supporting Rubio. At least, this is my opinion.
It almost sounds like they are implying that senators are made behind the scenes, not elected. Which I wouldn’t doubt anymore.
They made Hillary a Senator by “retiring” Moynihan, followed by Gillebrand in NY. And then there’s the case of Tim Scott in SC.

Exactamundo. Carson lives in Florida. So the quid pro quo would be: Drop out, endorse Rubio and we will fund/manage your FL Senate campaign. This has cabana boy’s finger prints all over it.
