The donors do not want Obama tipping the SCOTUS balance.

Not a chance in Hell McConnell would be doing this on our account.

I was just getting ready to post this from The Hill:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Tuesday said he won’t even meet with President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court.

If anyone other than Trump were in the lead I wouldn’t believe him.

I’m still not convinced, but maybe Trump is ‘negotiating’.

Republicans should have just remained QUIET regarding the whole topic of Supreme Court Justice appointment.
Why "telegraph" what we are going to do?
We should just say, "Nominate someone and send us his/her name for review and consideration." and left the discussion there.

Chances are Mitch has put his finger in the wind and he fears Trump more than Obama. LOL!

Elections have consequences. In 2014, the American voters fired Harry Reid and put the Republicans in control of the Senate. The Constitution talks about the President nominated someone with the ‘advise and consent’ of the Senate. That means that the Senate does not need to approve what the President sends them. I stand firmly with McConnell on this. And he’s from extremely conservative Kentucky, meaning he has nothing to lose personally by taking this stand.

Exactly. NEVER tell the enemy what you are thinking. NEVER tell some one whose ass you are gonna kick let them know you are coming and when.

Just do it.

If Trump wins I am not convinced that the GOP will not quickly joins hands with the Dems to rubber-stamp an Obama pick.

It's not just donors - it's the realization that America and conservatism would suffer incredibly with the appointment of a liberal justice. I know McConnell and the Senate GOP get a lot of negative rap (some of it very deserved) but in the end, I'm much happier with a Republican majority in the Senate than with a Dem majority. There is a major difference. If Harry Reid was still in power, he would see to it that Obama's liberal appointee was rubber-stamped.

Search for “The Biden Rule”

Having the current Vice President on the record and on video, as a Senator and in a Senate floor speech, saying that Presidents shouldn’t have Supreme Court nominees in their last year in office changes this whole thing.
