Flagship conservative? Since when. NR loved Romney and McCain. Until they started going after Trump, they were considered a RINO rag on this site.

Name another.

“Just what we need, another individual infatuated with himself and his buildings, casinos.”

Can we include the three trophy wives? Actually, his entire family looks cloned to perfection. I just wonder if he had an ugly child, would he have put it up for adoption?

I have done such a complete turn around on Ted Cruz.
At first I was all about Cruz or Lose.
I really, really fell for it.
As time went on I became disenfranchised with him.
Then became disgusted....and mostly disappointed.
Heart broken even.
If he wins the nomination, as my tag line indicates, I will certainly vote for him.
But lately I have become very angry with him.

>> He is self funding his campaign, but with a net worth of less than one billion there is no way he can afford a traditional campaign <<

Exactly on target. Bullseye!

And consider this:

Even if DT's net worth is in the range of two to three billion, an uncomfortable fact of life for him is that it's almost all tied up in illiquid real estate. His cash and other liquid assets are only a few hundred million, at most.

Anybody with experience in commercial real estate can tell you, moreover, that to convert such massive real estate holdings into cash at "fair market value" would take months if not years.

Therefore, if Trump should need cash right away, he'd either (1) have to mortgage himself to the hilt, or (2) sell his properties at "fire sale" prices. In the latter case, he'd be looking at maybe 50% of fair market value.

Either way, mortgaging or fire sale, a sentient being ought to realize that Trump ain't gonna do it. If he wants to run a General Election campaign, self-funding is not gonna happen. Just ain't a viable option. He'll need donor support -- and a lot of it.

Bottom Line:

Trump's current "self funding" shtick is a con-game that's eerily similar to Trump University, Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, Trump Airlines or the junk bonds DT used to finance other dubious ventures. And his current ruse is on track to turn out just as well as did so many of Trump's previous fiascos.

"You can't fool all of the people all of the time, but apparently you can fool the Trumpsters anytime you wish."

You, on the other hand, think everything Chump does or says is pure genius - even if it's diametrically opposed to what he said last week.

Scott Adams thinks everything Chump does or says is pure genius.

I'm more inclined to listen to Scott Adams' analysis of Trump's 2D & 3D strategies than to some anonymous guy/gal with a screen name of ManHunter on the Internet:

But lately I have become very angry with him.

I never appreciated his lack of repentence when a "too clever by half" position rendered his conservatism ambiguous. But I commend to you not to assume such postions by emotions, but by the cold calculation of reason. Trump will betray anybody, including the people who elected him, as long as he sees the prospect of a more favorable deal. Believe me, the Democrats can fix that in a heartbeat.

And not only that:

DT’s beautiful Great Wall is gonna have a big “welcoming” gate, so that the “good ones” can come back ASAP.

Now, the "reporter with disability" - wasn't he one of the NY Times posse that went up to Wasilla and ended up mocking Sarah Palin over her little boy with Down's Syndrome?

I dunno, you tell me.

What does that have to do with the price of rice in China?

That somehow justifies Trumps actions, not very Presidential, you'd have to agree. Right?

The talking heads still don't get it. In large part, America has figured it out. For the last quarter of a century, WE the Republic, have been denied the choice to say NO to socialism.

It has been a setup. The fix was always in. We, the Republic, have been loosing a war of financial attrition for decades. We, the Republic are engaged in a war with those who govern us. Drastic measures are required to defeat this enemy in order to stop the bleeding that each of us are seeing in the depreciation of our savings, the constant onslaught of taxes, fees, and licenses. Each of them designed to remove our ability to live free.

If a slave is a person who works for no money, then a paid person who works with no money left for savings or investment is therefore a slave.

The Communists are very good at planning each move, they have been at it for over sixty years, to bury us. They are so close to succeeding.

Trump has stepped in and has sensed our rage.We want to throw our shoes into the machinery. We want to turn over the apple carts and toss tea into the harbor. Trump is giving us a voice. He is giving our children and grandchildren a fighting chance of enjoying the life that our parents fought and spilled blood in Europe and Japan so as to impart liberty to ourselves.

No, we will no longer hide in the shadow of political correctness.

No, we will no longer stand idle in the face of the globalist Red Menace.

No, we will not play the game of choosing which Socialist will rob our children.

No, we will not play the game of choosing which Socialist will import an army of decapitating, lawless, savages into our home to eradicate Freedom and the American Way.

ANY and EVERY politician who will not build a wall is declaring he/she DOES NOT CARE IF YOU DIE!

I do not think Trump is a conservative.

I do not think Trump is morally pious and pure.

I do not think Trump is void of indiscretions or mistakes.

I do believe that any candidate that is a true conservative, morally pure, pious, and has walked the straight and narrow...would not stand a chance against the the globalist red menace that is systematically deconstructing our nation.

No, far from it.

Right now we need our own paladin of chaotic malice with a depraved sense of overly vengeful justice that will stand not for giving quarter. Right now we need our own Son of a Bitch glorious bastard, faults and all. We need to stomp out the treachery of political correctness that perpetuates racial discontent and has created Europe-istan, a Nuclear Iran, as well as ushering in a new world order of penniless servitude consisting of the entire earthly population bowing to but a few of the elite socialist megalomaniacs.

We need our own monster.

Ted Cruz may well be as advertised. No one knows. Four years ago, no one knew who he was.

He is young, deploy the Trump Bomb now, it is an ugly weapon of mass destruction that will result in some collateral damage, but it is required.

Alas, we have run out of time.

It will take many Ted Cruz clones to restore order in the aftermath.

Gilmore wasn't going anywhere. And beyond my point about cheap labor and bad trade deals, is the fact that the Tea Party handed the GOP the power to fight Obama, and for the most part the GOPe has rolled over instead. So tell me how doing the same thing over and over again makes sense?

Trump may or may not be the answer. Only time will tell. But I know what ISN'T the answer - more of the same.

“How was it that the star athlete at the New York Military Academy received a deferment for bone spurs in both heels? And how is it that those maladies seem to have disappeared, a miracle otherwise unknown in medical history?”

I wonder how many members of the GOPe that National Review favors have similar medical histories during military draft years?

And it is entirely your right to do so, although what my screen name has to do with anything is beyond me.

I read Scott Adams’ analysis of Trump’s campaign as well. I agree; it is genius. However, Mr. Adams’ analysis focuses on Trump’s campaign tactics and his power of persuasion and manipulation (the latter being my word), not his policies and it is his policies, not just his tactics that we’ll have to live with.

The Media DeathStar tried to play the Gimp Card on Trump - when it turns out that The Pet Media Gimp had no compunctions about mocking others with disabilities.

That somehow justifies Trumps actions, not very Presidential, you'd have to agree. Right?

SmackIng the hypocritical little worm down was VERY Presidential, you'd have to agree. Right? :)

About 4 months ago I read a piece that had his fluid cash assets at about $70-80 million. For him to self finance a billion dollar campaign he would have to borrow almost all of it, or have a fire sale on his properties to raise cash. He already has huge loans outstanding, and there is talk that he does not have enough equity in his holdings to do the deal.

Normally, the Media DeathStar donates millions and millions of dollars worth of presidential campaign "hitpieces" on the Republican candidate to the Democrat Party.

Trump is PEELING the Media DeathStar for all that cash equivalency. He doesn't need a billion dollars. :)

Among South Carolina Republicans who preferred above all else a candidate "who tells it like it is," 77 percent voted for Donald J. Trump.

Does anyone else find it ironic that those who claim to prefer a candidate "who tells it like it is," gets their nose out of joint when someone else "tells it like it is?" They're frauds just like their candidate!

>> chances are [Buckley would] be appalled at the Republican Party falling for an American version of Juan Domingo Peron <<

Of course.

And if a still-living Buckley should dare speak an ill word about their orange-maned idol, you can be sure that your typical Trumpian congregants would denounce Buckley just as vehemently as many already have denounced Tom Sowell, Cal Thomas, Andy McCarthy, etc.

By the way, I seem to recall that Buckley did criticize Trump strongly about ten or fifteen years ago. Can anybody cite that item?
