Consultants reaped windfall from failed Bush campaign
Fox New ^ | 2/23/16 | Fox News

When Donald Trump pointed the finger at Jeb Bush at the last debate and claimed he's got nothing to show for the millions his campaign has spent, he wasn't kidding.

A review of how Bush and his allies spent over $125 million in his failed campaign shows the main thing to come out of it was a lot of consultants and local TV stations made a lot of money.

A Washington Post review of Bush spending shows more than 95 percent of the advertising budget - from his campaign and the separate super PAC, Right to Rise - went to consulting firms Oath Strategies and Revolution Agency. The more than $100 million budget largely went straight to buying up air time on local TV stations, but the consultants themselves reportedly would have pocketed several million dollars in commissions and fees along the way.

$10 million of Jeb's donor money went to Fox News for the ridiculous Right to Rise national advertising spots that helped destroy Jeb's candidacy.

Reminds me of a quote from God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. Substitute "Republican political consultant" for "lawyer":

In every big transaction, there is a magic moment during which a man has surrendered a treasure, and during which the man who is due to receive it has not yet done so. An alert lawyer will make that moment his own, possessing the treasure for a magic microsecond, taking a little of it, passing it on. If the man who is to receive the treasure is unused to wealth, has an inferiority complex and shapeless feelings of guilt, as most people do, the lawyer can often take as much as half the bundle, and still receive the recipient's blubbering thanks.

I would have wanted twice that to try to sell that stinky pile to Republican voters. No amount of marketing in the world can turn crap (policies) into gold.

Jeb-You/re-Next spent over $125 million on his failed campaign? Holy hedge fund! The GOPe must be choking on the chilled Krystal and caviar-stuffed lobster in the country club Grill Room.

==========================================

IMHO, the ignominious collapse of Jeb-You/re-Next drove a huge stake into the heart of the establishment GOPe. Forget erectile dysfunction. The fallout of being politically castrated is devastating to a powermonger.

The GOPe/s de-b***ing began when candidate Jeb said he didn't need the Republican base .... and proceeded to carry on, business as usual, as his numbers sunk into oblivion.

Jeb telling a key bloc of Republican voters to take a hike is the consequence of the country club GOPe demeaning and dismissing conservatives as not being worthy of their elite party.

The entitled Jeb-You/re-Next took it as Gospel when he heard the Bush elders condescending attitude towards conservatives....people to whom the aristocratic Bush/s feel socially superior.

But the GOPe should know this: they will get no pity from conservatives for their woes......and we aim to stick their noses in the mess they made every frickin chance we get.

ROTFLOL....that IS funny.

Yes, you have to be one step ahead of lawyers.

I instructed my lawyer he was not to accept any monies on my behalf....all monies were to be directed to me.

And I wanted it in writing b/c my lawyer told me to get everything in writing.

LOL.

They must have known that Jeb wasn’t a strong candidate. His function must have been just to raise funds.

Consultants win, regardless of what happens to their clients.

Interesting how a campaign previews what a presidency would be like. Out-of-touch puppeteers, cronies, pigs gorging at the public trough, unlimited waste of ill-directed resources with nothing to show for it, waiting for disaster when the well runs dry. Can’t imagine why the public never warmed to Jeb’s message.

Can't imagine why the public never warmed to Jeb's message.

You have to admire the consultant who sold Jeb on "tell voters that a serious felony, one that is costing them both jobs and tax dollars, is an act of love that you celebrate - that will show liberals that you're independent and it will help you in the general election". He's either a fool or a saboteur, but selling that message to Jeb proves he's also one of the best salesmen in history.
