Many people who - like me - don’t have a very deep understanding of international trade and economics, still recognize that something has been very wrong for a long time. They also realize that if anyone does understand those things, it’s a man like Trump.
This is where a lot of his support is coming from, despite so many efforts to mark us all as xenophobes because we plainly also want ‘The Wall’.

...and EVERYBODY KNOWS IT.
Entire towns have been devastated. Entire cites even.
Everything in WAL MART is Made in China.
The Made in America label is very rare these days. It used to be ADVERTISED!
The average American knows something is very wrong.
Where I'm from, back in the 50s - 80s, kids would graduated high school, go straight to the factory, have a job for life. They would have a stable middle class life. House and everything. No unions!
If you didn't like your boss, quit your job, walk across the street and get a better job the same day.
There was no job hunting for 6 months to a year. There was no sending out 5000 resumes all over the country to get 3 interviews.
Americans now realize that we have been scammed and are now fully awake.
You just proved why the Ruling Class in this Country is the only Entity responsible for Trump’s rise in the Polls.
International trade is not all that difficult to understand.
In a perfect world there would be “FAIR TRADE”. Your country would have trade deficits with some others and trade surpluses with others, with overall balance close to zero.
However in the real world, the ultra rich and the big international corporations make bigger profits by exporting manufacturing to cheap labor countries, and then import those products into USA without tariffs.
But it is even worse than that. Countries like China & Japan are exporting hundreds of Billions of dollars worth goods to USA with zero tariffs, but make it very difficult for American manufacturers to export products to their countries. For example China wants to buy several Boeing passenger planes. But they want them manufactured in China!
Result is there is no “FAIR” trade. We are currently running $1,000,000,000,000 (1 Trillion) trade deficits EVERY YEAR. If there was fair trade, we should be exporting $1 Trillion worth more products every year. Can you imagine how many more jobs would be necessary to manufacture that many products in USA?
Trump was the first to talk about this problem. That is when I became a supporter, since I have worked for one outfit which had some export business and know first hand the barriers we faced in most foreign countries.
