In the last eight months, handguns stolen from federal agents have been used in a number of high-profile slayings.
A U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent lost a pistol Friday morning in San Francisco, police said.
At 9:27 a.m. a San Francisco police officer at the Ingleside District Station took a call from the agent who said he lost his pistol at 6 a.m.
As of Saturday, further details about the incident remained sparse.
"A duty weapon belonging to a special agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was reported missing Friday morning in San Francisco," ICE spokesman James Schwab wrote in an email.
He continued: "The incident was properly reported through official federal channels and to local authorities. The matter is currently under investigation."
In the past year, a number of law enforcement officers have lost their weapons.
The gun that killed Kate Steinle in San Francisco in July 2015 was stolen from a vehicle of a U.S. Bureau of Land Management ranger.
The University of California at Berkeley police chief had her gun, badge and official laptop stolen from her car on Aug. 21 at Point Isabel in Richmond.
A bill introduced in the state Senate last month would require everyone, including law enforcement officers, to store any handgun left in a vehicle in a locked trunk or a locked container out of sight.
Sounds as if it isn’t safe to have guns in the hands of law enforcement.
Not good anytime there’s a theft, yes. But One more undocumented transfer in a region with an estimated 8 million firearms ( estimating only the documented ones! There could be several times that entoto as more and more people reportedly are refusing to comply anyway ) ——in proportion, this is just Not worth losing any sleep over.
The agent did not lose the gun, he sold it for some quick cash, imo.

I am sorry, I have been without sleep for over a day. I don’t understand what your point is. :P
This is almost the same way, in the same sanctuary city that a low-life 5 times illegal Mexican got his gun to shoot an absolutely innocent woman IN THE BACK for no apparent reason...Which, to your dismay, bolstered and verified Trumps words on illegals only days before
The only time ICE will use those guns is on 12 year olds with fake baseball cards.
I admit that I don’t understand the mind-set in CA.
Here in TX, LEOs are required to be armed even when off duty.
Why are the LEOs and Fed Agents in CA leaving their firearms in their cars?
It IS SF. Maybe the agents are visiting the gay bathhouses.
From a report I saw last night, the agent left it on the roof of his/her car and then drove off.
The “professionals” seem to be pretty cavalier about their guns.
The average gun owner is far more responsible.
They can’t all just get a new one right away.
re: “A bill introduced in the state Senate last month would require everyone, including law enforcement officers, to store any handgun left in a vehicle in a locked trunk or a locked container out of sight.”
Damn! Common sense from the California Senate?
Maybe.
But this is California so the devil just maybe be in the details.
Funny how you never heard about guns being stolen from federal agents before Obama assumed office. Especially to be used for mass shootings. Mre likely being handed out by federal agencies on orders from the Obama administration to facilitate staged shootings.
Makes no sense to me at all. As former LEO I can tell you that holstering the gun becomes automatic. You really never take your gun out of its holster unless you work high crime areas or on the firing range. Even then it's auto attic to put out back in the holster when you're finished with it. If she left her gun on he roof of her vehicle it just doesn't make sense.
Fast and Furious 2.0, or there’s more than one way to arm the illegals.
Right there with you brother. I was correcting the earlier poster saying it was stolen from in the car.
Its pretty obvious the current administration is trying to to make a serious stab to take our guns away with Soros' help / money and his fake Mothers Against Guns Off Til Stopped (MAGGOTS) groups / activists, the MSM, fake gun crime statistics and poll findings generated by all the fake gun violence groups, many which are also tied to Soros, the schools teaching our children that guns are evil and making them do "time" for it, in addition to what I think is staged gun shooting squad that orchestrates or leads people down the path to do mass shootings. It wouldn't be hard at all to find some adolescent kid with full on hormones flowing through his body thats hopped up on psychotropic drugs if you track who uses them (which various agencies do depending on the state) online on Facebook then friend him under a fake profile so you could stoke the fires to build his hate. SJust make sure he has guns, give him a target to hate, and bullets will be a flyin'

Before I retired there were several incidents where company-owned laptops, cell phones, equipment was left on top of cars. Never seemed to happen to personally owned stuff.
Maybe if they had to buy their weapons, at retail, and up front, just like the rest of us, they would take better care of them.
* * * * *
Oh, and if they want full-auto, pay the tax and compete in the market with the rest of us for the very limited supply. Maybe this would break loose some more supply.
