So he basically has no position because such would lose him votes.

Actually, Cruz has his usual two-part position. One part for those who want the Confederate flag erased from history. One part for those who want to preserve the Confederate flag as part of their culture and tradition.

These kinds of robo-calls with new hits the evening before voting just pile on Cruz's image as a dirty campaign fighter. If he wins, what does he win? A sure-fire won't go away reputation as a dirty campaigner not to be trusted.

Basically he said that it was none of his business, it should be left up to the people of SC. He was absolutely correct.
