This is getting really confusing. I am told Apple could not retrieve this info, now they are telling me they could have if the passcode had not changed. I am keeping an open mind on this, but this just keeps getting stranger.

Some possibilities in bammy's Americka...

Was this a local IT type who thought he/she knew what they were doing a royally screwed the pooch?

Was this someone acting on verbal orders to make sure information on there was unrecoverable - to protect other sleepers?

Was this intentional, so that they could push for even weaker encryption and/or deeper, more comprehensive holes in the security. As in "Look, existing capabilities aren't enough, a simple mistake can deny law enforcement all this critical information..."

"The FBI wants us to make a new version of the iPhone operating system, circumventing several important security features, and install it on [the shooter's] iPhone," Cook added. "In the wrong hands, this software -- which does not exist today -- would have the potential to unlock any iPhone in someone's physical possession."

This is what Rush was talking about today. The one-off exception is an FBI cover story. What they really want is the ability to get into anybody's phone.

People keep introducing a bunch of histrionics into this subject. The herd of uninformed people have been stampeded by Apple's assertion that the FBI wants to crack all their phones, and that this terrorist phone is the means by which they intend to do it.

Now this stuff has flooded the internet.

Apparently, the cloud has now entered the picture.

If the cloud had the data, would not that be like Clintoon's server, the data can be captured/recovered.

I’ll bet the county IT department set it up so there was dual passcodes the phone, one for Miss traders and one cent by the user. Probably the idiot reset it without knowing what it was doing, Apple technology can be so simple it is confusing (in order to simplify the interface they’ve dumbed it down too much).

That is because you think you are smart enough to understand the entire security protocol. I certainly don't pretend to.
But Apple has already hinted, stupidly, how it is tied to the owner's most used IP.

Personally I don't want to know.

I just hope APPLE prevails.
