Absolutely.

The FBI is asking Apple to do nothing to remove the privacy features. They are requesting - IN THIS CASE ONLY - to remove the limit on the number of retries. 15 minutes work for a programmer. Once that’s done, the FBI can use it’s existing tools to crack the password and then decrypt the information on this TERRORISTS PHONE. No different than in the past.

This case is the nose in the tent; that is something Apple understands. They have been dealing with these requests and fighting them for years now. Once it is allowed in some cases, which future cases it is re-applied on are purely subjective.

Kind of like 503(c) applications are at the IRS.

Apple’s done it before, they’ve just been instructed to protect the Fraud’s terrorist BFFs.

Many here, unfortunately, likely unwittingly, are supporting the Fraud.

Apple unlocked at least 70 iPhones before refusing to hack into terrorist’s device

How many times have you heard that?

In this case only.

No, no we would never invade anyone else’s privacy with this technology.

I think this would be thoroughly discussed by people who know stuff and I don’t include Trump in that group.

He’s simply milking the popular viewpoint for votes.

It’s what he does.

I’ve read so many stories about what the FBI is asking of Apple I don’t know what to believe. It just seems the FBI should be able to crack it themselves since they are supposed to be the best.

I'd love to see that actual wording of the court order.

I have questions:

I'm assuming this is an operating system modification we're talking about.

If Apple modified the operating system, how would it be loaded on the phone? Is it access to the phone that is password protected, or is it just the data that is encrypted with a password?

Once Apple modifies the operating system to eliminate the 10 strikes and you're out limit, and provides it to the FBI, what is to stop them from keeping/copying the OS and using it whenever they like?

The FBI could care less if this phone is decrypted, they want to get rid of privacy from all phones. Anyone that is still paying attention cannot think that the US government cares a whit about protecting and serving the public good. WE are the fascist government our ancestors warned us about.
