Obama comes under fire for Syria softness

The United States is coming under increasingly bitter criticism for its perceived lack of leadership over Syria as the country's brutal civil conflict heads toward new levels of intensity.

Washington appears unable or unwilling to prevent its ally Turkey from bombing Kurdish fighters inside Syria, its critics say. And it has done little to rein in Russia's mounting military involvement on behalf of Bashar al-Assad.

President Barack Obama, at a summit in California, said "this is not a contest between me and Putin."

"The real question we should be asking is what is it that Russia thinks it gains if it gets a country that's been completely destroyed as an ally, that it now has to perpetually spend billions of dollars to prop up?" Obama said. ...

Obama actually asked a pertinent question. Direct access to the Mediterranean is one thing Russia gains or maintains. And of course, Obama is helping, because it is not a contest.

This is one time when we may be lucky Obama is a pantywaist.

God forbid this idiot should think he has the mental capacity to confront and best Putin.

Putin may not be the sharpest pencil in the box, but he’s certainly not as inept as Obama voters were twice.

Do we really want Obama leading on this?

Obama destabilized Syria by demanding regime change (to install his IslamoNazi pals like he did in Egypt and Libya, etc)
then he threatened to invade the country
then he shipped in tons of lethal weapons
then he ‘trained rebel forces’ there (which turned out to number a total of only 4 willing guerillas)
then ... then....

so O has completely screwed Syria up..

whether he can be fairly criticized for ‘being soft’ I question. Being firmer would mean what, exactly? He’s already invaded with some ground troops, special forces...
(to what end, his Allah/Sstan only knows....)

I would say that Obama pulling out of Iraq is what “destabilized” Syria if anything. The last restraint on IS(IS/IL) and Assad was gone. He also probably planned to let Putin do what he pleases there as part of the JCPOA.

Agreed that Obama destabilized Iraq too and enable Isis islamonazis to seize power there also. And agreed they’re connected — O does everything he can think of to build up the worst islamonazi forces everywhere in the world — while undermining usa and uk and Europe etc. Syria is just one piece of O’s much- larger scheme. And the amount of savagery and destruction he’s unleashed on Syria clearly demonstrates how strong his commitment is to building up that “evil empire” — a new islamonazj world empire/ dictatorship of immense ( eventually universal) proportion. Consider also what he’s doing in Africa

I imagine Putin will tell him to mind his own business.
