Hundreds of RAF planes have already been attacked with laser pens in the UK and abroad over the last five years, Express.co.uk revealed last week.
We also revealed how a drone flew within just 20 metres of a passenger plane as it travelled over Westminster...

I'm surprised any terrorists here haven't started doing this. We have been lucky.
Unless it is capable of causing structural or bodily damage, a laser is not a weapon. We still await the day of a true weaponized laser.
That said, we still enjoy the protections of the 2nd Amendment and, if I so choose, I will obtain a weaponized laser when I find it appropriate and prudent for me to do so.
Granted, I don’t currently see the need to protect myself from SouthWest Airlines flights over my domicile.
Around 20 years ago, I purchased a military surplus 7X50 Steiner binocular. Reading up on it, I noticed that it contained a laser shield. I also learned that it harmed optical performance but just barely.
I phoned Pioneer optics which was the importer of Steiner. The lady I spoke to said they would be glad to remove the filter for free.
I ended up selling it to a guy who had docked his yacht near a gun show. He wanted to keep the filter so a good deal for him.
I wonder if airlines have the same type shields available?
We have ‘em. They just ain’t portable. Need a ship.
Or a small convoy of tractor trailers to transport them and their generators.
Lasers might be a problem to airliners.
Surface to Air Missiles are a problem to airliners.
Hillary....Barack.....you didn’t lose some Surface to Air Missiles, did you?
Why, that would be dangerous to every American.
People might no re-elect a President who lost a bunch of Surface to Air Missiles say in Libya.
How bout some Back story?
I believe it’s from a test done to show the effect of a green LASER on aircraft windshield during landing. It completely wipes out the pilot’s visibility.
Anyone can buy an airliner online?
Who knew??
I noticed yesterday at Wal-Mart, they had little laser lights for sale which are intended to be used as toys for cats to chase. Price, a whole dollar.
I also noticed a package of little rubber coated flashlights for a dollar each. More out of curiosity than anything else, I bought one.
When I got it home I was surprised to find it already had 3 AAA batteries in it. Turned it on and darned if it wasn’t really bright.
They really do seem to be doing some remarkable things with LEDs. I bought an I-zoom 3D cell model a few weeks ago and it is roughly ten times brighter than my similar Mag Light. It might even be more than ten times as bright.
I’m not good at electronics, computers, and even do poorly with html so let me ask you, what is an I-zoom 3D cell and what is a Mag Light?
I am not much on computers either but this is a photo of a maglite (silver) and an I-zoom (black.
The maglite actually is also an LED but an older model. It is still brighter than the old police style bulbs on the older Maglites.
That I-zoom is extremely bright. I can shine a spot on a stand of trees maybe 300 yards away and it is still very bright.
