When I was in pre-med, it was GPA + MCAT + Interview. Period. . That was it, as far as I knew. No politics, no quid pro quos, no alumni factor, again, as far as I knew. There was no talk around campus of any type of quota, etc, it was just 'the best got in' type of thing. I had several very good friend that didn't get in. They would have made good doctors . This ages me, but I had about ten or so orientals in my class. . all smart, absolutely no problem with them. . and btw, all good doctors, very meticulous and OCDee as we say, (it's good, most good docs are a little OCDee), and two woman in the class. That's it, we had two gals in my class! Just a little bit of history. .
The last name would get him into second tier but he'd be on some kind of probation for "microaggression" before mid terms.

As an aside, I really wonder how Obama did at Harvard Law, writing, case presentation, test results, legal analysis and debate, . . will we ever know? He's so lost without a teleprompter and is so measured when he's off script, I just can't see him as being outstanding. And president of the Harvard Law Review?

Been going on in medical schools for at least 40 years.
The landmark Supreme Court case dealing with affirmative action (Bakke, 1973 I think was the year) was about a white male suing because he was denied entry to medical school so an unqualified black male could be given the slot.
Bakke, the white guy, lost the case.
The black guy was passed, started practicing as a plastic surgeon, and if I remember correctky he proceeded to kill at least two of his female patients, may have faced charges of sexually abusing patients also, can’t recall all the details.
Of course, you never hear about the black doctor’s horrific career afterward, just about how wonderful it was that affirmative action & the SCOTUS gave a marginalized minority a leg up out from under the evil oppression of whitey’s standardized tests and so forth.
Okay, rounded up some links on the Bakke case/aftermath — I got some details slightly off but not by much. The black doctor was incompetent and sneaky to a grisly and ghastly degree, and was eventually murdered, as you’ll read here:

Hey, the bathrooms are available for them to stay in. So is the campus’ waste treatment plant.
All you have to do is to look for “free space” and you’ll find it.
Don’t bother to waste the ammo; just turn off the water, power, and gas.
Cordon the building so nobody can bring anything in or out.
They will all be out in 3 or 4 days, snowflakes don’t last long in the real world.
