they’re 25 years apart in age....there was no one to fight at the time TC would have joined or could have joined. Totally false straw dog argument based on an epically failed premise and false equivalency.
But hey, it is you after all.
Since he didn't choose an education combined with a military obligation, I would assume he would disown any campaign garbage about what people did in the late 1960s and 1970s. It was a very different time. Like many in his generation, Trump grew up and realized what the direction our society was going in was doing to the US.
Nobody knows when they join if they will or won’t fight until they finish their time in the mnilitary. Just because you join during peacetime it does not mean there won’t be a war while you are in. Just because there is a war does not mean you will absolutely be sent to fight. BTW, we did do Desert Shield/Storm when Cruz was about 20.
Ted Cruz was 28 when we entered Afghanistan, 29 when we entered Iraq. He could have served had he chosen to. At the least he could have joined the Guard or Reserves.
It doesn’t matter whether he joined or not as far as I’m concerned, no one was or is required to, not since the draft ended in the 1970’s. And even with the draft, deferments were easy to come by.
So this whole lack of military service argument to discredit presidential candidates is just so much Bravo Sierra. Only a relatively small percentage of American men ever put on the uniform. We can and should honor those who served, but let’s not dishonor those who didn’t.
