I simply stated that joggers engage in reckless behavior without stating whether or not this particular one did anything foolish.

This story reminds me of something I saw on a pretty regular basis when I was working in Riyadh. It was a pretty regular occurrence for Saudi drivers to intentionally run foreign joggers (usually Americans or Western Europeans) off the road with their horns blaring. For some reason they took offense at the presence of foreigners. Most of the guys I knew would always run with a couple of throwing sized rocks to bounce off their windshields. They would never stop as they knew what would happen with anything less than a six on one advantage.

I particularly remember one Saudi trying to run a Bangladeshi guy on bike off the road with his Chevy Suburban. It was so incredibly blatant and intentional. Fortunately the guy on the bike was not hit and did not crash. ....

  Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau has identified the driver of the 1989 Toyota Camry as 36 year-old, Haissam Massalkhy, male Lebanese, who resides in West Covina.

  The victim has been identified as Chi Shao, 59 year-old, male Asian, from Walnut.

  Massalkhy was booked at Walnut Station for murder. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail.

  The case will be presented to the District Attorney's Office for filing considerations.

  There is no additional information available at this time.

somehow I’ve managed to avoid almost running down a jogger in 40 years of driving.

I run facing traffic on a dead end road to nowhere with 8 ft. wide shoulders on both sides. for some reason the road is popular with fat-assed lookie lous in 4X4s who are lucky to make it from the couch to the refrigerator. had a motorist going my direction cross all the way over and see how close he could get to me without actually hitting me. flipped him off but he kept going. lucky for him he didn’t have a flat tire within the next mile.

Lucky you. In the last year I've had two almosts - both in the dark. One a woman in dark clothing ran out into the road while the light was red for her and green for me. I had to practically stand on the brakes to keep from hitting her, and by road, I'm talking about Peachtree industrial Blvd. which if you don't know Atlanta is a heavily trafficked four to six lane major thoroughfare I guess she was “in the zone.” or something and didn't want to interrupt the cosmic rhythms generated by not breaking your stride for something as trivial as traffic.

The other was similar; a group of three running (in dark clothes of course) in one of the two traffic lanes that were going in my direction. THe car in front of me had to swerve and blew the horn, and I followed suit, but they just kept on running down the road. BTW there is a sidewalk along that stretch of road, They just didn't feel they had to use it. Again something about the cosmic rhythms I guess

Nobody wants to hit a pedestrian unless of course you're in the black lives matter movement, and there isn't any excuse for deliberately mowing one down, but sometimes joggers just don't show the sense of a tapeworm.
