I disagree.
W. disappointed me with his big government spending (NCLB, Medicare, bailout, immigration.) but he did reduce taxes. Debt went way up, though, since he did not control spending. I look back on his “compassionate conservatism” with a bad big government taste in my mouth.
Also I think he misled about his position on marriage. Everyone around him caved on marriage. Makes me suspect that he was closer to Hillary and Zero on that issue than he admitted. If he lied about something, it was that. Action and sometimes inaction often speak louder than words.
W was imperfect, but very good in some ways. What a disaster Gore or Kerry would have been.
