The proper response after 9/11 was to nuke Mecca and Medina and take over Saudi Arabia’s oil. That would have sent an unmistakable message to the Arab world that we are done with terrorism that they support. Muslims respect one thing—overwhelming force. All else they consider weakness. That is the lesson of 1400 years of the West dealing with the Mohammedans.

I think you overstate the negative while forgetting just how significant the 9/11 terrorism was to everyone. They hit multiple targets and planned even more. The murdered thousands of Americans. Had team W not been on the ball, it would have been worse. We were stunned. We had no idea what to expect next, at least for a time. People were scared. W handled it very well overall. Zero totally changed the outcome by making his goal withdrawal rather than victory.
