Xi would have to step down by the end of his second term in 2021 so the so-called sixth generation Communist Party leadership can take power.
He may not want to play by that script. I would look for him to move to amend China’s Constitution to create a real executive President and gradually push the Communist Party to the sidelines.
That way he could stay in power longer.
Yes, I am inclined to believe that he would amend current rules to stay in power.
