With Air Forces, as with stocks, the secret to long term success is to diversify.
But a maintenance headache, incompatibility between spare parts and a need to train mechanics and pilots on two completely different systems. Kuwait is utterly dependent on the US and it's inconceivable that they'd pursue a military effort that didn't have the blessing, backing and material support of the US. Not sure I understand why they'd see a need to diversify to two fighter-plane systems unless it's simply to keep Europe happy with them for political reasons.
