Why 2016 will be the best year yet for climate justice

Already in 2016, communities around the world have been forced to confront climate disasters of all sorts.

Severe flooding in some regions and dire water shortages in others have resulted in food crises, mass migration, and economic mayhem.

Climate injustices like these are becoming obvious to citizens all over our rapidly warming world, and governments are simply not responding with the expected urgency.

"There is definitely a call for colored people, especially those from vulnerable groups," Kimberly Lopez Castellanos explained of the climate justice movement. "We want their voices to be heard, their stories to be told and their energy to be passed onto big groups of people."

Ashley Franklin of the Labor Community Strategies Center, a labor rights, human rights, environmental justice organization based in Los Angeles, affirmed that her identity has been an integral and beneficial part of her involvement in the climate justice movement.

"I think being a woman of color from a working class family, with a parent who's an immigrant to the United States only gives me more ammunition to state that it's my right to speak up here," she said.

Climate justice acts as a platform for the empowerment of perpetually marginalized populations, and in so doing, brings together "the 99 percent" and highlights both the needs and the solutions of the people.

Any excuse for lack of personal effort and crapping up your nest: “The climate made me do it.”

I think it used to be called “Environmental Justice” if memory serves.

New name. Same stuff.

If there's a prize for how many leftwing buzzwords can fit into a single sentence, this one should win one.

That pic is an excellent representation of the cause; UGLY. Literally as well as figuratively. Ugly fueled by hate. Hate of humanity, hate of God.

It was the climate that convicted Mumia.

Or, maybe the climate was responsible for Mumia’s criminal activities?

I know! It was the climate that was responsible for Mumia’s conception.

It would only be justice to free Mumia, so he can find the real climate responsible.
