CIA Director John Brennan on Sunday said in an interview broadcast late Sunday that it is "inevitable" that the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) will try to carry out attacks in the United States.
"I'm expecting them to try to put in place - the operatives, the material or whatever else that they need to do or to incite people to carry out these attacks, clearly," Brennan said on CBS's "60 Minutes."
"So, I believe that there attempts are inevitable," he added. "I don't think their successes necessarily are."
Brennan said the intelligence agency knew in the days leading up to the November attack in Paris that the terrorist group was planning to strike somewhere.
"We knew just in the days before that ISISL was trying to carry out something," he said, using an alternate acronym for the group.
"But the individuals involved have been able to take advantage of the newly available means of communication that are - that are walled off from law enforcement officials," he added, referring to encryption technology.
He said U.S. intelligence has prevented "numerous" ISIS attacks from taking place so far.
"Believe me, intelligence security services have stopped numerous attacks - operatives that have been moved from maybe the Iraq to Syria theater into Europe," he added.
"They have been stopped and interdicted and arrested and detained and debriefed because of very, very good intelligence."

They wont have to if we let a million in. They have already attacked. It is likely the attacks will mirror the PA model, small single attacks. No one can stop a single bomber. I was surprised at the Bataclan attack. It shows they do not fear being detected in France. We all know the problem france has had for years. Law enforcement just not showing up in these areas.
How many Americans must die on their own soil before we fight back?
Brennan is reportedly a convert to Islam. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he's in bed with Muslim Brotherhood and might oppose ISIS only to the extent their goals conflicted with those of the MB.

I heard that, too. Considering the number of MB people high in the DHS and elsewhere, I have little doubt the DCI has changed the focus of the agency to be less effective against certain groups most of us would consider hostile.
The shift from emphasis on countering and eliminating foreign threats to this country to monitoring and intimidating* (so far) domestic "threats" as laid out by the SPLC and others indicates resources are being used against primarily Christian Americans, and not those of Muslim faith at home or abroad.
*LaVoy Finnicum's murder and the Waco incident were intended to intimidate other Americans, not an open declaration of war... yet
ISIS is just waiting for the green light to attack, from their leader in the White Mosque.
That is why when we are attacked I will expend little to no effort to help those who have refused to see or prepare.....
Someone who makes that disgusting statement needs to be fired immediately. How can someone sit there and say such a thing to the American public without applying all American resources to eliminate the threat immediately. It appears to me the statement is made only to grate the American people. It is absolutely reprehensible. Do you really believe Trump would put up with such BS?
