You need help. You can dish it out, but you sure can’t take it.

Work on that.

No, on the contrary I think you are doing great, perfectly in fact.

This campaign strategy you’ve got going is wonderful. A lot of lesser men have thought that they needed to court support beyond the true believers, but not so with Trump, he transcends such human requirements. Those pussies are going to vote the way they are told and like it.

I know you are going to pick up all of those Bush and Rubio votes, so getting to 51% will be easy smeazy for you, even without the crazed Cruzers.

In fact, I’m already looking forward to seeing how Trump funds that general campaign. What do you think, about $1 billion is needed right? Currently he is loaning his campaign money, instead of just spending his own money outright, so he is looking for serious donations at some point. Big donations are obviously off the table, so have you run the math on that yet? What is $1 billion divided by $20? Is that more people than at a Trump rally? I know that I am really, really, really, looking forward to my first Trump campaign cold caller, maybe it will even be you or another FRumpster at the other end. See Trump does bring joy to my heart.

He should sell the pacifiers - to the teary eyed Cruz supporters/

That is mean. I refuse to chuckle at that. (Really. I am not chuckling.)

You seem fixated, perhaps even suffering from an obsession with Trump. You wail and gnash your teeth about this and that, you assign motives and analysis based on nothing but your own clearly overemotional state. You appear to be afflicted with what I could call a ‘negative-investment’ in Trump, you can’t stand the guy, you wouldn’t want to vote for the guy, but you just can’t stop talking about the guy.

Yes, that sure sounds like an obsession to me.

Yes, yes. Well, done.

But enough about me. What do you think of Bush supporters? Rubio supporters? Carson? And please, for those not yet familiar with the Trump campaign strategy, do expound on your views concerning Cruz.

I'll do better than that, consider the words of our Esteemed Founder:

"To hell with Amnesty pimps Bush, Rubio and Kasich. Fat chance with McCain's lapdog Grahamnesty. Carson is too nice a guy to make a dent in Hillary. Huckabee, Santorum, three swings yer out. No way on Paul. You gotta be kidding me with Christie. Perry's gone. Walker's out. Nice try, but no chance Fiorina. Gilmore who? There were others but I don't remember who or why,

Leaves Cruz and Trump.

I like Cruz. Comes across as a solid constitutional conservative. Christian. Young man with talent and potential, though not much real world experience. Barely got his ears wet in the senate, but already wants to tackle the world. Go get 'em, Tiger.

I didn't like Trump, until he started knocking it out of the park on a daily basis. Now I'm ok with him as insurance. If Cruz doesn't get the nomination and Trump does, I think he'll mop the floor with traitor Hillary.

Trump is the lion in the race.

If it's Trump vs Sanders America has a clear choice to make. Will we continue as a Judeo-Christian capitalist country or will we die as a godless communist state?

Actually, that same choice applies to Trump vs Hillary, but the Butcheress of Benghazi may be more of a fascist than a communist. Thoroughly corrupt either way. And same results either way. Godless totalitarianism.

Absolutely essential for our nation's survival that we win this next election. Another godless America-hating commie at the helm following Obama, we're done as a free country.

My "strategy"?

How about you just tell EVERYONE what exactly you think my strategy should be?

C'mon, you're full of ideas, and you look down your nose at anyone supporting Trump, and since your intellect is light years ahead of anyone else around here, just spell out what YOU think Trump supporters should be doing, ok?

Eagerly awaiting your profound words of wisdom.

How about you just tell EVERYONE what exactly you think my strategy should be?

How kind of you to solicit a lowly Cruz supporter's input.

I would recommend building support among Republicans to reach 51% of the delegate count, without so pissing off the remaining 49% that they stay home in November. Positive messaging on your own candidate and negative messaging on opponents' capabilities to deliver (but not character) would fit that bill.

Unfortunately, if you win the primary but lose the general, then you've totally screwed all of us, and in fact, by demonizing the entire field, you're probably also guaranteeing that no other nominee can win the general either. Scorched Earth is a fairly sucky primary strategy.

That’s a great idea.

Do you have a *ping* list for all the Cruz supporters here on FR?

For that matter, the Cruz campaign itself could make use of your sage advice.

I applaud you. Bravo.

So great ideas don’t apply to you?

Tell me, what are my chief criticisms of Trump and what are my chief criticisms of Trump supporters?

I find Trump’s major position flops troubling, and I find his supporters incapable of acknowledging any of Trump’s obvious negatives. You’ve seen memes that hit both of those issues. Do I like Trump as a person? Not so much, but I dont have a need to, there are aspects that I do like.

As a practical political matter, the animus is stupid. Yes that applies to everyone, but FRumpsters are the only ones that strike me as being overly attached to a personality. Cruzers are hung up on constitutional purity I’ll grant you, but not so much to the vessel.

Cruzers are hung up on constitutional purity I'll grant you, but not so much to the vessel.

Are you kidding me? The more fanatical (not all but many) Cruz supporters all but fall out, 'slain in the spirit' at Cruz rallies where Ted is calling on them to 'awaken the Body of Christ', 'put on the full armor of God', and all of that routine, and there is nothing wrong with being spiritual, far from it but Cruz (and his fans) fail to understand two very basic principles, the first being that we are not electing a Pope, a Preacher, or an Apostle. We are electing a President of the United States, and while I agree with Cruz and the majority of conservatives that America was founded on Judeo-Christian principles and that we ARE supposed to be a Christian nation, that does not mean that we are a theocracy, we are a Republic.

The second principle Cruz and his supporters fail to understand is that while the spiritually flavored political campaign may indeed be pleasing to the eyes, ears and heart, is that revival style strategy going to appeal across the political spectrum? In a perfect world, the answer would be "yes" but in these latter day United States, the only thing Cruz is going to accomplish is the polarization of the electorate, and then it boils down to basic arithmetic, if Cruz is able to 'energize' enough Christian voters to outnumber all of those heathens out there, he'll win. But if not?

You can be sure that whoever his opponent is, WILL win.

Now as for 'position flops' Cruz is guilty of the same things, just like ANY politician, H1B, trade policies (TPA-TPP), earlier positions on amnesty, it's all out there for anyone to research, does that prove that Ted Cruz is a vile, lying snake?

No, no more than changing positions and perspective means that Trump is untrustworthy.

Let's face it FRiend, the system is hopelessly corrupt, and it is going to take an outsider to bring it down, Cruz may be up for that job, but I *know* Trump is, because he's seen the system from nearly every angle, and he readily acknowledges that it has got to change.

You pays yur money, pick up yur ticket, get on the train. If the candidate you choose wins, you get to pull into the station, if not?

The train wreck will be either slow or quick.

Yes, but maybe Trump wanted to hold the kid's hand!  Think about the parents looking on.  They were probably thrilled that Trump touched their child and did something more personal than signing a shirt.   He makes a deeper impression in that way.

What do ya think?

My Comcast is down so you’re getting a far more abbreviated texting response than your post deserves.

Thus, greatly abbreviated, you’ve got many assertions there, and that’s fine, but they aren’t facts.

We don’t factually know if a country that has now twice elected Obama, has it in it to elect Cruz or Trump. We don’t know that Cruz would be effective. We don’t know that Trump is playing us.

I understand your logic, but Trump remains a Hail Mary play. Frankly, I hope I’m wrong about his real agenda.

As much as I love to watch Trump beat on the media like a rented mule, only Fox has really engaged him, that NYDN excepted. The media wants Trump to be succeeding right now, and coverage will be very ugly. Not a shocker, but Trump supporters had better accept that Trump will not be a golden boy in the general and he will be accepting big donations. Although Bloomberg could privately fund a run, Trump doesn’t have enough money.

I’d like to say more, but tapping this out on my phone is not conducive.

Well, it appears I am up an running with a functional keyboard. Much better.

So to recap, I appreciate your position on Trump, although I don’t accept the assertions as fact. I do accept that I could be wrong, and that you could be right.

I worry a great deal that people who are backing Trump are not doing so with eyes wide open. If the posts I was seeing on FR were more like the thoughtful opinions you’ve put down, I would not be so inclined to take Trump supporters to task.

As I said, I get the basis of the argument you are making, even if I’m not on board yet. But to be frank, if this all goes south to the point that it becomes necessary for me to dissolve the political bands which have connected me with others, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle me, then I want to say that I gave Constitutional observance as much of a chance as possible.

I don’t see much hope beyond Trump or Cruz. I don’t think either of them will have an easy time getting elected. I do hope Sanders gets the Dem nomination, so that it will be a clear choice. I’m 50 and if we’re headed into civil war, then I’d prefer it be while I can still be of good use.

That’s a very profound post. And I agree with you (who woulda thunk it? lol) and my default position remains mostly an echo of what FR management has said, “It’s Cruz or Trump, all the others are amnesty pimps” and I’m comfortable with that.

Could Trump tone down the boisterous rhetoric and bluster? Yes he could, but then he wouldn’t be Trump and he would be attacked as ‘just another politician, measuring his words’. Cruz has drawbacks too, some beyond his control, some of his own making but compared to the alternatives, they’re the only two worth consideration as I see it.

I’m not surprised that we’re on the same page more than we are off of it.

Got some power issues off and on here myself (central WV), need to conserve some juice for this UPS backup that gives a whopping 20 minutes of reserve juice before everything goes dark.

Later! :)
