The growing list of Insurers wanting out of ObamaCare destroys the meme that Big Insurance wrote the law. What’s in it for an industry to author a law that forces them into extinction?

Humana’s trying to merge with Aetna. A lot of due diligence is going on, and they’re required to report how badly they’re getting screwed by Obamacare.
It’s not like they can say “look, here are our numbers showing we’re getting screwed by Obamacare. But we want to keep getting screwed because it’s our duty to as a good corporate citizen”
I think Humana is in the process of being bought by Anthem, so it really won’t matter is the merger goes through.

I’m not sure how Beshear’s political antics relate here, other than the very general heathcare subject. Beshear is just supplementing his gubernatorial pension by creating a “charitable” organization that both he and his wife (and a bunch of his cronies) can draw salaries from, plus positioning himself for consideration as HHS Secretary in a Hillary Clinton Administration.
Doing taxes this weekend. Going to see how big a fine I get for not being able to afford insurance for my wife. A pox on everyone who voted for this crap.

There are two types of problems. One is people who can’t afford copays, so cut corners on prescribed care. The other is the vultures who get everything they can get their greedy hands on because “it’s covered”. Can’t see how either situation is helpful to improving medical care.
In actuality, they were the originators of that horrible thing, or at least were the biggest supporters pushing it. All they saw was that by decree, it gave them a total captive market and all they saw were the YUGE profits such a thing would be for them.
The only problem is that a relative few jumped on the conveyor belt and even those are starting to jump off when considering all of the warts that come with it. Especially the deductibles and co-pay increases from what they had before. They still have to pay large premiums but in many cases never get to the deducible threshold before the year is out, or even worse cant afford to get there.
The insurance lobby and our government broke the system through ever increasing regulations and were standing there with the solution, again and again.
Get both out of healthcare, period and it will become what it needs to be. Free market principles work.
I used the free market cash system to have a hernia repaired.
The hospital and surgeon would have billed insurance around 60K based on my predetermination with them.
Paying cash to them would have been about 13K.
I then went to a private outpatient surgical center to inquire. By paying with cash, I was able to get the procedure for $4200.00 and that included the center facility fee, the surgeon (from the same group as the hospital) and the gas passer.
I am hearing many instances the deducible is up to 6K for Obamacare. Without the premiums and being graced with good health, did I make the right decision? An office visit to my GP is $98. Maybe once a year I see him.

They thought they’d make money from millions of coerced customers; one of the reasons it is failing is that younger healthy people are paying the penalty (rather than kicking in to the insurance companies), and the insurance companies are being stuck with older, sicker peoples’ bills.
