"...I'm not that self absorbed as people like to think..."In some ways that is very true. Hussein has happily endured unpopular stands and positions (weakness in foreign policy, soaring national debt, socialized medicine, etc.) because he believes it hurts America in the long run.
He despises the three Cs: Christianity, the Constitution, and capitalism. If he can, in his opinion, denigrate one or more of these, he will be happy to be despised--because in his view, it is a NOBLE cause to hurt these institutions.
