Lawmakers in France's lower house of parliament on Tuesday night narrowly voted to pass a highly controversial proposal to amend the constitution to strip people convicted of terrorist offenses of their French nationality, AFP reported.
The measure, passed by 162 votes to 148 with 22 abstentions, followed weeks of debate after it was proposed as part of a set of measures by President Francois Hollande in the wake of the jihadist attacks in Paris in November that killed 130 people.

Why not strip them of their lives?
It's common sense. It's prudent.
Politically easier than executing the scum.
But first you have to find them. We know where to look, but that will probably just make them mad, right?
Probably becuase this amendment operates against people out of the jurisdiction of France. Frenchmen in the middle east. Their French passports are rendered void, and the French government sees them as aliens, which affects their rights under French and perhaps international law. Some of the these people will be rendered stateless.

There is more to this than meets the eye, in the long run.
France is under an ongoing state of emergency.
Today’s readily identified terrorists are Islamic.
However, tomorrow’s terrorist designation may take on a more domestic identity, ie: troublesome patriots fighting an ever growing Islamic French Caliphate, for instance.
A Islamic dominant political group could easily use this exile deportation act against french nationalist activist adversaries that they’d like silence or get rid of.
The USA has recently enacted an indefinite war declaration anywhere in the world, and the 2011 NDAA permits indefinite detection of US citizens deemed belligerent toward gov’t, are argued as necessary for an effective war on terror.
However, I am highly suspicious of the true intention and goal of these broad measures.
Like the Patriot Act, we will likely regret the day we went along and permitted these powers to be put into effect which strip us of our freedom, rights, and do little to improve national security.

Does this pertain to all French citizens, or just naturalized citizens?
Such approach means that a government has the capacity to grant one a nationality. A government can't be allowed this. If there's a traitor then hunt him down and execute. Property confiscation is also appropriate.

The majority of muslims maintain the constitution of Islam (Sharia) is superior to all others. Thus they can’t be citizens of any nation other than islam.
