Shannon Miles will not stand trial for the murder of Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth any time soon.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys agreed that Shannon Miles has been found incompetent to stand trial. Two sets of doctors, one from the state and another set hired by his defense attorneys, reached the same conclusion.
Miles did not appear in court. Instead this was handled by his attorney. Miles' attorneys said they don't want him making statements that would jeopardize his case. Defense attorneys say their doctors say Miles is Pscitezopherenic and psychotic.
Miles will be sent to a state hospital for 120 days to regain competency. The 120 day period starts when Miles gets to Vernon State Hospital, but it could be another 100 days before that happens.

They were competent enough to commit the murder. What kind of BS is this?
It would be cheaper to just give him an ounce of lead and bill his family.
Miles fled the scene after the shooting and evaded police until he was captured. Those calculated behaviors indicate he understood that he was committing a crime.
The authorities need to let everyone know that they will be giving repeated electro-shock to psychos like this till they come to their senses.
Is “pscitezopherenic” something they just made up, like “affluenza”?
I have never understood this defense. If the guy is broken and violent, and has committed a heinous crime it seems to me he is irredeemable and thus the perfect candidate for incarceration or execution.
“They were competent enough to commit the murder.”
They haven’t been convicted yet, have they?
Deputy killer?
As opposed to the main killer?
I think someone was trying to spell “schizophrenic” and just gave up.
More governmental nonsense.
Okay, change it to "competent enough to be recorded on camera committing the murder". But, no, not convicted.
“Pscitezopherenic”
Huh? Did they mean, “Schizophrenic”?
Online dictionary cannot find, “Pscitezopherenic”.
“Okay, change it to “competent enough to be recorded on camera committing the murder”.”
There’s really no difference with that statement. That he killed someone may be a self-evident fact, but it still isn’t factual to say it was murder if it hasn’t even gone to trial yet.
