A 10-year-old Muslim boy who attends school in Lancashire, England was questioned by police for writing that he lives in a "terrorist house" instead of a "terraced house," the BBC reports.

The boy, whose identity is being concealed, was reported by his teachers in compliance with the country's Counter-Terrorism and Security Act of 2015, which encourages schools to report anyone "suspected of involvement in terrorism."

The boy's family expressed their surprise and offense of the child's questioning, saying they originally thought it was "a joke."

"You can imagine it happening to a 30-year-old man, but not to a young child," the boy's cousin told the BBC. "If the teacher had any concerns it should have been about his spelling."

It's starting to seem like there is a real defensiveness in at least a significant part of the Muslim community in the West to investigate things that could truly be red flags - especially if they involve Muslim children.

It seems very likely that it's because children can give things away (look at how many incriminating things Ahmed Mohamed gave away in interviews) - maybe even just mentioning radical things they hear at mosques or from friends and relatives.

It is my understanding that a "terraced house" in England is what is called a "row house" in this country. When I first heard Herman's Hermits refer to a "terraced house" in their hit song No Milk Today (1967), I thought it was a reference to a multi-story mansion.

Or perhaps the little boy, not a native speaker of English, has trouble differentiating terraced from terrorist. Try saying terrorist and sometimes the middle syllable gets lost, sounding like ‘terr’ist.”

With sloppy diction now a national epidemic, 'terrorist' and 'terraced' would be indistinguishable when pronounced by any British speaker of English, native or otherwise.

Had the teacher asked little Achmed what he meant by his home description, it might have saved everyone a lot of bother.

Of course not importing the religion of terrorism in the first place might have saved Britain a lot of bother.
