GOP battle: Rubio down, Trump up, Cruz flat, Christie muscles in
Hot Air ^ | 2/7/2016

For their part, Team Christie was delighted. More than delighted. "Oh man, it was the clearest one yet!" campaign manager Mike DuHaime exclaimed as he walked into the spin room, as if Christie had had a string of victories before but this one was the most decisive.

"He's prepared to give one-minute speeches," DuHaime said of Rubio. "He's not prepared to be president of the United States."

DuHaime predicted Christie's performance would pay off in the polls and on election day: "I think he's going to climb quickly after this." Christie will need the boost. Back in late December and early January, he was in the low double digits in the RealClearPolitics average of New Hampshire polls. Then, as January went on and the political world's attention focused on Iowa -- Christie himself made a swing or two there -- Christie began a slow slide in the Granite State. Now, he's about five percent in the RCP average. Even if he does get a much-needed jolt from the debate performance, there's almost no time to take advantage of it before Tuesday.

Still, Christie had about the best night he could have had. And, by the way, fellow governors Jeb Bush and John Kasich had pretty good evenings, too -- so much that ABC's Jonathan Karl called the debate "the revenge of the governors."

The other leading candidate, Ted Cruz, had only a so-so night. But that was fine with him.

This is why I want Christie as Trump’s AG, taking the fight to our real enemies like he took it to Marco Robo.

I said a while ago, besides Trump, Christie is the only republican candidate with any personality... I tagged him as a possible dark horse for the establishment vote.

I am not sure if Christie can overcome his many negatives, but honestly he’s the only guy beyond Trump that has the X factor. He’s been my dark horse pick for a while, for the establishment bloc. Will see what comes Tuesday...

I think if Rubio or Cruz don’t finish in the top 3 they wind up in trouble... Rubio’s argument that he’s the establishment bloc chosen evaporates if he isn’t in the top 3. Cruz not being in the top 3 in NH certainly steals away any claim of momentum out of IA...

After this last debate, it’s certainly hard to see either of them in the top 3, but debates don’t always equate to votes good or bad.

Yeah. Like when he made it illegal for Christian parents to raise their children as they see fit.

Get lost! And take Christie, the abortion, homosexual, planned parenthood, common core, anti 2nd amendment lover with you, BigRino.

So you and BibBOB are ok with FatBoy CrispyCream as AG. The man who is for elimination of the SECOND AMENDMENT.

Are you bad boys RINOs or has the election season limited your ability to think

Christy and Trump have similar personalities. Both are tough with no BS. I like tough and smart.

Among this field they are the only 2 (Trump and Christie) with personalities. You don’t have to like them but there is no doubt they command the attention when they enter a room. The X factor. You don’t have to like them but you can’t ignore them.

No one else in the republican field does this.. Which is part of the reason Trump has dominated. I pegged Christie as a possible dark horse for this reason. He’s got high negatives for many things but he has the X factor as well... Guess we’ll see come Tuesday what happens and go from there.
