"I have to admit, as I was sitting there listening to that conversation, my reaction was, 'Are you guys nuts?'" Cruz said Sunday, speaking at a town hall here. "Listen, we have had enough with political correctness, especially in the military. Political correctness is dangerous. And the idea that we would draft our daughters to forcibly bring them into the military and put them in close combat, I think is wrong, it is immoral, and if I am president, we ain't doing it."

Cruz won’t have to worry about it because he isn’t going to be President

Draft women is nuts but cheating a black candidate out of votes is ok. Cruz is nuts!

Thank God. I thought that was the most idiotic thing I have ever heard come from a Presidential candidate, that they would make Selective Service mandatory for women and possibly subject them to the draft.

Ohhh, your talking about the military draft. When has cruz or anybody in his family ever been in or supported the military? Kind of rings hollow coming from cruz, doesn’t it?

Actually, I think we need society to rise up and declare: "Feminists are wrong! Men and women are different! Some jobs make sense for men and not for women! This is especially true in the military! Women do not belong in combat!"

Those are commonsense positions, but the country isn't really there yet.

So -- treat men and women the same: register women for the draft.

It's about changing people's minds.

I wish he had vehemently jumped in (he has two daughters) and ripped them a new one with an OVER MY DEAD BODY statement.

It is my understanding that when women go in the military now and especially if they are going in hot zones they are told to go in birth control because if captured they will most likely get raped.

I agree with Cruz. Unless you are a nation that is in existential crisis like Israel....drafting women for combat is insane.

I agree with Cruz on this also. Does Trump have a position on this?

I have no problem with drafting women. We already have the mechanism in place to draft men.

I served in the US Navy for 20 years, and I am a woman.

If politicians risked sending their daughters as well as their sons into harm’s way, I would hope they would make those decisions with extreme care.

Yes and no. In my opinion if we have political correctness to advantage liberals, we must be consistent when it disadvantages them. I believe making women register for the draft will instantly switch many of them from liberal to conservative. As it is they favor killing babies and sacrificing men for their own freedom but resist equality when it comes to combat. I think they should get the responsibilities of their claim that there is no difference between men and women. If it hurts to mix them, then have women only combat troops. Whatever. Just drag their feminist butts to those front lines.

It is disgusting how feminists are so hateful toward males when males have sacrificed so utterly for their freedoms.

But you cannot have it both ways. If women are equal to men and should not be descrimunated against, and therefore serve in combat...then why shouldn’t they be drafted?

Women have tried to push into every career that’s available to men, so it’s finally only logical that women be registered for the draft. But should a draft ever be necessary, we can be sure there will a very long list of deferments and exemptions for women, far longer the same list for men.

The number of women drafted would be much smaller than the number of men. Pregnant women and women with minor children will not be drafted, and there will be other exemptions.

Interesting. I thought Israeli women were drafted. I thought that 90% of our military were in non-combat roles such as medical, intelligence, planning, logistics, supply, maintenance, etc.
