JERUSALEM - An Israeli court on Thursday sentenced two Israeli minors for the murder of a 16-year-old Palestinian in 2014, sending one to life in prison for a crime that provoked deep soul-searching in Israel and was one of a series of events that led to the Gaza war later that year.
The court sentenced a second Israeli teenager, believed to have had a lesser role in the crime, to 21 years in prison. Another Israeli defendant is awaiting his verdict following a psychological examination.
The three Israelis snatched Palestinian teen Mohammed Abu Khdeir from an east Jerusalem neighborhood in July 2014, driving him to a nearby forest and then burning him to death.
"The sentence imposed on the defendants reflects what we asked for and the barbaric and atrocious act," said Ori Korb, the state prosecutor. He said the murder marked a "moral nadir."

The victim's family is calling for the families of the perpetrators to be stripped of their Israeli citizenship, and their homes bulldozed to the ground.

No need for Israeli people to beat themselves on the chest in soul searching and for the prosecutor to elevate his hyperbole talking about a “moral nadir”. To be sure the homicide was horrific but the effect of a perpetual homicidal population, the so-called Palestinians, at your doorstep who dream, fantasize, and carry out acts of barbarism against a besieged Jewish population on an almost daily basis: I’m surprised more of these acts don’t take place.

If the guy they murdered was involved in killing the three Israeli teens, I would approve. But taking out revenge on innocent victims is inexcusable, undefendable, and lowered these two killers to the same level as the murders of those three Israeli teens.
If only they were as harsh on Muslim terrorists as they are on their own. But Israel has much higher standards than the Islamic rabble who terrorize them. Bravo for bringing these murders to justice.
Now don’t have double standards, apply the same justice to Muslims. Allowing Muslims to get away with murder is passive racism.
Just like white folk are institutionally discriminated against in America, Jews are persecuted by Israel the same. On kid when I was there was thrown in prison for wearing a T-Shirt that had “No Muslims, No Terror” on it, at the same time Terrorists were blowing up a city bus a week with no reprisal.
If you are a Muslim who just cut someones throat at a bus stop, if you can run into Arab controlled territory like the temple mount the Israeli police let you go, “they don’t have jurisdiction”.
