Cruz Spox: 'False' For Carson To Say We Sabotaged His Campaign (VIDEO
Talking Points Memo ^ | FEBRUARY 2, 2016 | CAITLIN CRUZ

A spokesman for Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-TX) presidential campaign on Tuesday dismissed Dr. Ben Carson's charge that Cruz supporters played "dirty tricks" to win the Iowa caucuses.

"On the Ben Carson allegation, it's just false. We simply, as a campaign, repeated what Ben Carson had said," Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler said in an interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe."

Carson accused Cruz supporters of spreading false rumors that the retired neurosurgeon was dropping out of the presidential race after CNN reported that he would vacation in Florida following the caucuses. Carson, whose campaign had clarified that he was returning home just to grab some fresh clothes, said Cruz's campaign used "dirty tricks" to lure his supporters over to the freshman senator's side.

"In his own words, he said, after Iowa, he was going back to Florida for a couple days and then he was going to go to D.C. to the prayer breakfast," he said. "So what that told us was that he's not going to New Hampshire. That's not a dirty trick."

Tyler also defended mailers the Cruz campaign sent to potential caucusgoers over the weekend that “graded” their voting history and implied they had violated state election law. When host Mika Brzezinski asked if Tyler would “consider that dirty politics,” Tyler said the mailer was based on a past mailer by the Iowa Republican Party.

“I could show you lots and lots of mailers that I would consider deceptive, but this was reminding people it was their obligation and duty to vote,” Tyler said.

I realize your only interest in this is becasue of the impact it had on Trump. Well, if Trump hadn’t tried to win Iowa from 30,000 feet perhaps none of this would have mattered.

He said on Hannity Radio show last week that he’s a pragmatist and that if he doesn’t win Iowa or New Hampshire he won’t stick around.

Sorry but this was a bad move from the Cruz campaign and will hurt him.

“We simply, as a campaign, repeated what Ben Carson had said”

People at Cruz events were asking about Carson’s itinerary? That seems odd.

Rep. Steve King says Carson 'out'

I am pretty sure Steve King is on Team Cruz and I am pretty sure he checked with the boss before tweeting. But Cruz as is his wont will lie and deny. That's his MO.

"Carson looks like he is out. Iowans need to know before they vote. Most will go to Cruz, I hope," King tweeted.

The opponent created an opening and Cruz took advantage of it.

Probably a chapter on that in "Art of the Deal".

My first thoughts about the mailer were “ugh”...and then I thought, no, we MUST be bold and present the facts and obligations that many have forgotten and/or ignored. The more vote, the more we really see who and what America is made up of. It is something that was fought for and many died for so why should we just sit back and let a few decide what we are and who we are?

Vote your values and let’s see if America is what it is today and headed...or if we need to change course....

BEN CARSON was asleep at the wheel on this one. He needs to wake up if he is going to succeed in securing delegates.

ZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!

King said he is out and Cruz people also added the “Carson big announcement tomorrow” in some precincts. That part was a total lie.

I think Cruz would have won anyway, but at the time Cruz sure didn’t know he would win. He used some slimeball tactics because Iowa was absolutely necessary for him.

I wonder if Rubio will take NH now.

Trump needs to redirect fire on him.

The thing that gets me is how many Crus supporters like gov_bean_ counter are OK with Cruz lying if the lie helps him win.

The reason behind the record Iowa turnout?

Poor little old ladies who thought they were criminals.

Because we don’t necessarily accept your characterization that Cruz is a “liar”? Any more than I think Trump is a liar, though some make that case.
